Yep ...
Cosmetics ought to be used to enhance NOT hide one's physical features. Glad the ol' lady agrees with me on this one. |

My Korean fiance-bird or whatever is beautiful. She looks great in 'as is' mode, or in 'use a bit of make up to make me look even more gorgeous' mode. She is a very beautiful girl and make up can make her look better on occasion, though usually she looks just fine as she is.
It's her choice when she wears make up. She never lays it on snoopy style, she has a lot of confidence and semi-intimidates a lot of daft lads who try to chat her up.
To get to the point I've seen my KGF many times without makeup and she often looks stunning. Sometimes we all look rough and if one of us does then the other usually sorts me-her out with coffee or a 'get in the shower and sort yourself out' type of thing.
Bottom line is my KGF is beautiful but makeup is a women's thing. I just let her get on with it. Time and place, time and place..... |

My girlfriend never wears heavy makeup and often goes out without makeup. She looks great natural or made up. |

| Mine wears it sparingly. Sometimes though I'm a little taken aback when I see her just after she does a makeup scrub or whatever. Then again, look at me in the morning...YIKES! |

I know ... it's a sign I've been in Asia too long : I like makeup on women.
As an example, a few years ago when I was back in the States for a while I went on a date, and I felt actually insulted when the woman came out wearing no cosmetics and really not dressed all that well, something like a flannel shirt and blue jeans. I was seriously inclined to invent a prior engagement and offer to take her home after a while - let me be clear that her conversation and intelligence were never an issue, but rather I felt that the way she had presented herself on a date make me suspect she thought of me as not worth any effort of building attraction. I kept having to hold back an exclamation of "What do you think I am - your brother?"
But being over here has changed this particular thing about me - I am more frank in my desire that a woman try to be attractive for me, primarily as a sign of her desire that I see I see her that way. |

I assume you make an equal effort to look good for a date too. Or is it only women who have to look good? If so isn't that a touch discriminatory? |

Too many western women have lost track of the fact that men like to date women -- not women who look like men. Call it discrimination if you want. It's exactly that. If you chose one person over another based on attraction, it's discriminatory, right?
Nature has a way of excluding those who don't play the game. |

I had to point out that lipstick should be worn only on the lips to wifey who has responded by not wearing any in protest. Some is good, lots is naff.
Those pictures are excellent! |

| These photoshopped pics are the tip of the iceberg for photography in Korea, it is so weird, they way they try to falsely represent life in pictures and make it appear as if being alive were more glamorous, wealthy and exciting than it is. From wedding pictures of the groom carrying his bride over the threshold of a big and beautiful country house (not a house the couple can ever dream of living in) to pics of a couples holding hands on the Champs d'elysees taken in a studio somewhere in Nowon, I find it hearbreaking, that so many people wish to live a small fantasy in their photo albums. |

So a woman who doesn't wear makeup looks like a man? Only makeup makes a woman a woman? haha, that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Good luck getting a girlfriend.
I don't call it discrimination, I call it stupidity. "Oh I can't date you, you are smart, funny, good company, but you are too relaxed to cake makeup on for an hour before leaving the house. I need to date someone a bit more insecure and shallow who needs to hide under a pile of makeup, see ya!" |

Galactic,
Why do you automatically equate wearing make-up with a person that is insecure and shallow?
By the same logic I suppose someone who doesn't could be called lazy and selfish....but that would be a dumbd thing to say no?
I do agree that Derrek went overboard here about western women not looking like women anymore....that just does not float. |

Yes Homer it was a leap. I wear makeup! It was just a reaction to Derrek's ridiculous assertion that women need to disguise themselves before they can look like a woman.
But I think the 'lazy and selfish' comparison is more of a stretch of logic though, cause it implies that wearing makeup is necessary, and anyone who doesn't isn't pulling their weight in society.
I do however know women who are too insecure to go out in public without makeup - and I blame the Derreks of the world for making them feel this way. Perhaps it's the Derreks who ar shallow rather than the makeup-wearing women. |
