I was married in the Shilla in July. We were lucky enough to get a suite and I must say.. the place was impressive. We didn't pay anything but it seemed ritzy enough.

Hi there,
I've stayed at the Shilla, The Intercontinental ( Grand I think they call it, there are two at the Co-ex mall) and the Ritz Carlton. I may be returning to the Ritz soon, depending on if they give me the free upgrade I've been promised because of less than adequate amenities in the room and some other issues. I'll return to the Ritz because of their great restaurants and the pool which I loved.
On each ocaission I booked through the internet, saving some big bucks and getting some extras ( fruit, champagne, chocolate in the suite for free at the IC). The Shilla gave me a real hard time and tried to give me a crappy room because I paid half price on the internet, but they only made things worse for themselves by doing so and ended up giving me a lovely suite, although it took an hour. There was construction going on at the Shilla as well.
All in all I guess the Ritz would be my choice. There is more info if you need specifics but don't want to drag out this post...

i stayed at the renaissance in kangnam. 250,000. yes, very comfortable, good sauna/ health club, but unless you're rich or someone else is floating the tab, it ain't worth it. come on, we're teachers. stay at a decent love motel for 30,000.

I won a photography contest once at the Seoul city tourism site and won a weekend at the Walker Hill. The room was on their VIP floor. This was shortly before World Cup and my neighbor was the dutch coach, whatever his name was. I had no idea who he was. Just some cranky looking old guy that seemed to wearing Korean track suits a lot.

The VIP floor was staffed with these tall beautiful women that would do everything for you. You got access to the breakfast buffet. Every time you used a fork, some leggy beauty would snatch it away and bring you a clean one. You come to realize service can be so good it becomes oppressive.

The downside of the Walker Hill is it's pretty remote.

Shilla is on some very nice grounds. Nothing really impressed me about The Shilla, however.

Hotel Amiga has some very impressive bathrooms and I believe you can use their health club when you stay there.

I stayed at Lotte World Hotel and that was okay. Good location.

Stay away from the Hamilton. Stayed there once and it was a dump for the price they were charging.
Better staying at one of the finer 'love' motels.

my friend works at the Ritz Carlton, near Kangnam. She said it's real nice.

I stayed at the Koreana near Gwanghammun. it was pretty good for the price(about 150 000). Not quite as good as the hilton but the location is great.

Went there this weekend. Slick attendents everywhere. Felt outta place in my khaki shorts and golf shirt, but they still seemed more than happy to take my money at the tables.
