Just wondering how many times you have been out-and-out assaulted (physically or verbally) in Korea because of your committing foreignication (word coined and copyright 2004 Mr. E. Walker aka Kain067).
This can be either directly at you or directly at someone you are with regarding you (ie assaulting your Korean girlfriend because she is with you). I include anti-Americanism in this if it is clear they are assaulting/insulting you solely because of your Americanism (real or assumed) and not just saying they don't like America's foreign policies.
For me, I have been here 5 months and have been out-and-out assaulted 3 times. I would include another 4 or so incidents in a gray area.
I can elaborate on these incidents if so desired. I would also like to hear other people describe their incidents. For my latest story, please see the second page of the topic "Crazy Guy in Subway" by mithridates.
I am not trying to push any agenda, either direction, with this poll. I just want to know the facts. |

That grey area. . .
Been hit twice (that I remember), poked by a cane once, mouthed-off at quite a few times (not counting the old mother fucker in my neigborhood -- he starts spewing at the mouth every time he sees me), almost smacked once in the subway -- *beep*. . . this is getting depressing. |

Koreans are judgemental as a culture, but I think it's melodramatic to say that a rude comment is "assault". Not to mention that it trivializes the experiences of people who actually are assaulted for racially motivated reasons here. ( I've known one or two). |

None that i remember.
Nothing majorly bad in Korea.
However in Australia maybe 10-15 times and I'm a whitey but it was because of my preference for Asian girlfriends.
You be the judge on who i think which country is more racist.
Its not Korea. |

Do any of these incidents involved a lot of guesswork and deduction on your part, due to your presumably limited Korean, and their presumably limited English? Because after reading your deduction and language skills on the other thread, you are a real Inspector Clouseau. |

youre an absolute idiot. none. they involve someone saying "i hate f..... americans" to my face, a picked fight with my korean friend translating, and direct insult in front of a subway full of people from a person known to hate foreigners. i left out the possibly gray ones, which are very far from gray in reality. youre completely insulting and blind. way to attack the victim. youre great. |

Well, at least you're predictable, if nothing else. Take your mask off and we find....someone who has a quick temper and a propensity for rage. Yeah, ok. I'm positive that you are not a catalyst in any of these situations or at least, negatively aggravated and escalated a situation that may or may not have started off as a misunderstanding. Your quick-draw 'F- you' PM to me, moments ago, totally underscores this.
Please start a daily blog. Tell us the address. I'll invite my friends over to read it while we are pre-drinking, so we can go out on the town laughing and having a great time, knowing that our day's stresses are merely a fly on an elephant's back, compared to yours.

that is really disgusting. i cant believe you. i do nothing, dont attack anybody, and what do i get? attacked for being attacked. you are the same type of person who says rape victims deserve it because they wear slutty clothes or some such. i like how you bring the private mesage into the public. not man enough to talk without having your imaginary public posse there on your side.
honestly, what did i do? i asked for assault stories. i told mine, which are 100% genuine. i NEVER even said any koreans were at fault for them! in fact, i dont hold them against them!
you would be a real case if you were to be in america and turn your current prejudices around in another environment. yell at blacks for imagining their discriminations, in an environment 300 percent less racist than here. call out those blacks for dreaming up their problems, when you have no clue what youre talking about. some hero you are.
i cant believe this whole board is so unsupportive. seriously, we need support on this board. its what many come to it for. especially after being REPEATEDLY ASSAULTED based on race. Jesus, there are hundreds of real social work groups based around that very stuff in the US, a place that needs them less. and here we have great people like chronic, attacking those very people. you really make me sick. |

In Korea, never - and nearly 6 years here.
In Europe, never.
In USA, never.
In Middle East, never.
In Africa, a couple of times, but more along the lines "Elephants are only afraid of white men". |
