bought a Samsung 15" TV at Carre Four today- I plugged in the coaxial cable with no results except getting a few Korean Channels. Does anyone have any suggestions? The manual is unhelpful. My landlady insists that there are 77 cable channels??? I will go out and ask some Koreans but thought some of you may have had some experience when there may have been some unforeseen issue with these? Any (Helpful) suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Duane. Yes,absolutely I need to learn Korean, my own fault! Actually I was told by the landlords daughter that it needed a special jack and he would look at it tomorrow. Duane why are you on here twice under 2 different names? |

Well, I don't know who "duane" is but anyways...
I wasn't trying to be a jerk, but the free channels are probably what you are getting and is limited to "Arirang" for English channels.. Basic cable costs money, and you will need that to get the "77 channels" the landlady was taking about.
As for the TV problems, even a Korean/English dictionary could help you out with the words on the screen....or go to the Babelfish translator if your computer supports Han-gul. You just need to find the "channel scan" function and it will probably auto-detect the avaliable stations.
Maybe post the model number and we could look into a manual for you or help with the translations. |

well I did pretty much the same thing as the OP when I found a cable poking through our living room window when we moved in. Simply plugged it into the aerial socket on the TV and voila... tons of cable... for free. I guess it was just someone before who never bothered signing off. |

it need to be configured on the TV, a special screen with multiple choice questions. I guess I am not ready for technical multiple choice quetions. Thw landlord sussed it out for me.
Shame on me I should have been more observant and assummed less. I was looking for the headphone jack so I would not disturb neighbors while watching and low and behold there isn't one. |

That's standard. Everyplace I've lived in 8 years in Korea (maybe 11 houses) has had free cable. |

Yeah well, easy come easy go. Just been on the roof and it's been disconnected and the splitter removed that used to connect it. I could simply go up there and redo it but I can't be bothered as I have another cable connection anyway.
Wonder who did that then... |
