We never forget Newfoundland
No matter how hard we try
Hmmm why do Quebecers think their rights as a minority supercede the rights of all the other minorities in Canada. Do we have to adopt every language spoken in Canada as a second language?
You can preserve your rights without trampling everyone elses.
Many of the things that are going on in Quebec today would be labelled hate crimes or discrimination anywhere else in Canada.
Name one other province that has laws passed that says you must try to find a Quebec contractor first to do a job. Interesting thing is you can get companies in Ontario to go to Quebec, do the job and do it better and cheaper than the Quebec company.
I have never had the opportunity to live in Quebec but you can be sure if I did I would have a sign in English on my house/apartment and I would kick the maple syrup out of the first language law schmuck that told me to take it down.
Pre Trudeau era Quebec did not have all of these much touted rights that you mention. Truedeau is viewed as a Stalinist dictator by many Western Canadians...Democracy my ass what we Canadians have is a 4 year dictatorship We vote in the same dipshyts every year...year after year....oh yeah...how do these wonderful choices get voted in? Because the majority of seats in Canada are in Quebec and Ontario which pretty much dictate policy to the rest of Canada.
Quebec has no moral right to hide behind the constitution..technically speaking before a vote on a new constitution can be made the old constitution must be declared invalid......ssoooooooooo technically speaking Canada does not have a valid constitution as the fussy frogs killed the new constitution from being ratified.
Quebec demands so much from the rest of Canada but what does Quebec really do for the other provinces? |

A small, vocal, declining, and ageing minority who tend to use the separation option more as a leveraging tool against Ottawa than to really believe Quebec would be better off out of Canada. |
Which is why Canada would be better off with
a) Quebec seperating
b) Quebecers continually electing PQ governments. Hearing about the specter of quebec seperatism and how they are humilated from any other than the PQ in Quebec City or the Bloc in Ottawa is tired. Enough already! |

Man, I should have known to come to this thread earlier to talk about how much I miss a good frank, before the natural evolution into a political debate about Quebec, that all good hot dog threads get plagued by. |
