Okay, what strikes me about those ladies, besides their beauty, is their perfect teeth! I am assuming they are not exactly rich- so those straight, white beauties must be a gift from the gods.

Are they Balinese....?
If so, the Balinese strain of hinduism encourages it's followers to file their teeth flat. Seems pretty nasty and apparently it's quite unpleasant, but it certainly creates pretty cool looking teeth, hey ?

I don't get it. Jakarta? Really? I was there for a year, and I hated the place. OK, if drug-fuelled *beep*-mongering debauchery is what you're after then few places beat Stadium (is that place still open?) Generally, though, I thought Jakarta was ugly and boring as hell.

Girls were pretty though...

I would agree about that. Its only good for nighttime debauchery. Everything else about the city of Jakarta bites.

Most Indonesian girls I met preferred hanging out at the malls for daytime entertainment. Because of the heat and smells and grit of the city.. the malls actually were some sort of relief from the day-to-day grime. That was a serious negative to the idea of living there long-term.

Anybody spent any time in Tokyo? I'll be there for a fortnight soon and plan on a few good nights out with my cousin and a Japanese chick I've lined up. Any ideas? I'll be buying the Lonely planet guide before I go, but still.

Yeah, I found the "mall-rat" culture there spirit-crushingly dull. To be honest, I thought most Indonesian girls were a bit like that too. They were pretty though...

Understandably so I'd say. Many visitors enjoy it. I don't know about living there a year or more on not so good wages.

No one mentioned Taipei?... well, understandably so maybe.

I suppose HCMC can be as good as BKK too.

Cant really agree with all the Bangkok hype. Been there a few times and had some mad nights, but the actual nightlife itself is limited. Few years ago it wasnt so strict with closing times but these days they are. As for the famous 'red light' areas, well if youre after a seedy freakshow then great, otherwise youll be bored and irritated by the place. Khao San is just one enormous cliche, best avoided if possible.

Manila was pretty disappointing too. Couple of areas but fairly quiet in general.

Tokyo too expensive to forgot about and have a good time.

Seoul is the only place ive been to that you can go all night to variety of places, cheap to get around late at night, clubs not great but plenty of bars and not get harassed by hookers.
