Have you noticed how many Koreans want to leave Korea? Why?

Murky political struggles, an unstable society, a failing economy, a social atmosphere that treats the wealthy as criminals, and anti-business sentiment and regulations make people frustrated. Therefore, people are turning their backs on their country or are preparing to do so.

-And of course they'll get a fair, non -racist and equal welcome in the western countries they end up in, while at the same time holding xenophobic anti-foreigner views when they're in Korea.

Its been like that since... since Koreans started to own TVs I suppose. Remember the brain drain in Canada to the USA? Canada's not such a horrible place to live but people with skills and talents will follow the money. It's pretty much that simple.

I'm genuinely trying to work out if that reply was laced with sarcasm or not.

It is reported that 96.5% of the young employees in Korea wish to work abroad. According to a survey conducted by Korea Recruit (www.recruit.co.kr) from Aug. 30 to Sept. 2 to 4,710 employees between age twenty and thirty, 96.5 percent of the respondents (4,543 people) answered that they wish to work abroad. The most popular country to work in was the U.S. (34.0 percent), and the most favorable position was business management (25.0 percent).

Just because they want to get out of Korea, that doesn't mean they won't come crawling back. Alot of Koreans try to live overseas, but fail in the end to adapt to the new culture, language, whatever. Young people here also have unreasonable expectations about foreign countries, and limited understanding thereof. Sound familiar anyone?

I guess 96.5% of young employees in Canada (or the U.S.) wish to work abroad. The most popular country to work in is the Republic of Korea.

What's your point exactly? It's old news Koreans have aspirations to work and live abroad. While the numbers may not be so high in the west, if you asked any university aged student if he/she wanted to work abroad for a spell if given the chance, I would think a majority of the young and idealistic would love to, if it met certain conditions.

I find it funny you keep posting this as you seem to be unable to leave a country the vast majority of natives want to leave. We're all curious if you actually held a real 9-5 office job or career-oriented position back in North America and if you're actually employable at home.

Korea is crap. right RR? Is that what you're trying to say in your special way? Come on now, no need to be subtle with us. Just come out and say it, and you'll feel better. Tell us what you're really really thinking.

unfortunately for most of the world as cities become more and more crowded suicide rates are likely to rise....the two go hand in hand. Humans really weren't meant to live in these giant cities that never sleep and are full of insane amounts of stress. Have you ever talked to the average Korean about how much they sleep. My recruiter sleeps on average four hours a night because he's so career driven...and from what I gather that's the norm....crazy if you ask me.

It boils down to quality of life.

Korea 1200 sq foot house $300.000

USA 2200 sq foot house with a pool $160.000 (this in Florida and correct)

Korea 65-70 hours a week of work $1.800

USA 40 hours a week of work (and you can change jobs regardless of age( $2.000

Try going back to school to get another degree when you are 40 in Korea. Will not get very far.

I would say a hint of sarcasm, but in general terms, that is the truth.
