|
|
i started a thread a couple of weeks ago about my computer shutting itself off without my consent. i took it to the guy i bought it from. it worked fine for him. he ran my virus scanner, found a couple of viruses, got rid of them, and blah blah blah... i got home, and my computer was still acting up again, so someone on here told me to try a new outlet. i did. the computer worked fine again for a while.
now it's up to its old antics again. it started this time after i put a disk into it, so i suspect that might have been the source of the problem since the getgo. and, clever me, i figured out that if i scan for viruses on only parts of my computer at a time, then i can scan the whole thing before it up and shuts itself off. i've gotten through most of the computer, and so far, i haven't found anything wrong with it... except of course that it still doesn't work properly.
any ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated. simple ones that are likely to work would be even more appreciated. thanks! |

thanks beave, but that didn't seem to work. if it means anything, this is the exact message i get about two seconds before my computer shuts itself down:
power saving enable
monitor will shut down
in few seconds.
it's not even written in proper english. is there some way i can just bypass the power saving thing? like, if i change a setting or something, and tell my computer that i'm not terribly bothered about saving power, might it override my problem? i don't know... i'm grasping at straws here. |

Yeah, there are power saving options. Right click the desktop and bring up your display properties. The part you want is located under the screensaver tab. Go to monitor options and there is some power saving stuff for your system. Now, I don't know if this is going to solve your problem or not, but that's where to check the settings. |
