I noticed some of my students have somewhat cute stalling tactics when called upon to answer a question. They're trying to gather their thoughts or something and don't want to appear stupid.
One girl makes a T with her hands and starts going "TIME! TIME! TIME!" The best is this other girl who gets this blank look on her face which she quickly replaces with a very confident look, she folds her hands over her textbook, and then she states in a very officious tone of voice "Yes, I know" as if I was asking her the name of that big yellow burning thing you see in the sky every day. She eventually spits out the right answer. |

Often someone else will jump in and answer for them. Because they're in game mode when question and answer becomes a team game the last five minutes of class. Or to help the student out, so they don't look bad. This happens a lot, and is very cool.
I'm asking questions all the time it seems. And it often happens that kids will smile and just keep saying 'yes', smiling like maniacs while nodding their head. 'Are you going to say yes to every question I ask?' and the beaming students nods 'yes!'. 'Do you want to die?' and the student nods, grinning like a crazy man, 'yes!'. |

lol... reminds me when I say "repeat after me" and make them repeat new words. Of course they don't turn off the "repeat after me" mode.
Me: Okay turn to pay 38.
Class: Turn to pay 38.
Me: Right.
Class: Right.
Me: I'm a babo.
Class: tee hee! |
