| I keep a blog, and it is 100% self-indulgent. I write it for myself, my family, my friends and that's all. Why write for complete strangers? Seems like the same mentality as the person who keeps his/her lawn an impeccable shade of green in an attempt to impress the neighbors. Do it for your own enjoyment, you freak. |

| Same here, Apple. Although I don't mind if anyone sees it (http://korea.agraham.ca) it's definately written in a "conversational" style and it's not gonna win any pulitzers. It's just my way of sending postcards home. |

ditto, here it is. Its not really for the public, so anyone who reads it and get upset, tough *beep* and it is frankly dull as dishwater (mostly "I'm tired",
"my Hogwon sucks", h8 h8, rant, rant )................ |

Ah, cool...I used to know 2 of them in Daegu. I didn't know if they were still in Korea. Everyone seems to have blogs these days. |

When I first started my blog, there were only a few out there on Korea. In fact, I believe there was one other guy and he focused on Korean politics. Then there was my blog . (This was way back when Blogger first came out and I used to have to explain to people regularly on e-mail what "blog" meant).
I kind of gave the everyday perspective of a teacher living here and the other guy did the politics. There were also a few blog-ish ones that didn't call themselves blogs, but they rarely posted photos. Having photos really spices up any website in my opinion.
I started my site to show potential teachers what Korea looked like and what everyday things like teaching, partying, and even food and buildings were like. The things I tried hard to find online but wasn't able to before I came here.
I also started to chronicle my first experience in Korea years before. I did this when I went back to America and suffered a broken arm and had nothing to write about. I eventually finished this story and self-published it as a book recently.
Nowadays my Korea blog is just one in an endless sea. I still enjoy doing it, though, and I have even made a difference in a few people's lives and also made a lot of new friends. A lot of teachers have told me my blog really influenced their decision to give Korea a try. I am also surprised by the loyalty of my readership. I still avergae 1000 + hits/day even though I don't have the same zeal for updating that I used to have.
It's a general rule on this forum to trash people when they try to be creative in any way shape or form so don't expect too much if you advertise your blog here. You're likely to end up like me - attracting a lot of decent people but also losers that enjoy leaving anonymous comments and putting you down for whatever reason they can come up with. |

Yeah, I had my blog up on the banoffeepie site for awhile and it attracted the trolls. God forbid that I would make a harsh blog entry whenever I got screwed by teachers when I was recruiting, and the whiney trolls starting complaining in my comments over why I am not so blindly supportive of all the innocent victimized teachers over here. I'm out of that racket now, but I went ahead and started a new, low-key blog, just for friends and family. There's too much goddamn internet availability in this country, which is why there is such an active and often trolling online expat community. |

"Trolls" aren't always wrong, nor are they always losers. Just as you are not always right, nor are you always a winner. The term "Troll" has come to encompass anyone who strongly disagrees with anyone else...very loose interpretation. Expect the good with the bad, and expect criticism.

I definitely knew the last 2 on the list, as all three of us worked for Like, once upon a time. It was a big school with a lot of teachers, so I didn't know them well.

I always heard 'condescend' when I watched it. I did a double-check on imdb.com before I added it. I was actually looking for the line where he says to the gangsters that stormed his apartment looking for his roommate, and they have Floyd at gunpoint, and he says, 'You guys wanna smoke a joint?' or something, but couldn't find the exact quote or on any online script that I saw. |

| I have one. Mostly filled with pictures and a few comments for friends and family so I can cut down on emails. |
