B99 says, "YOU GET PAID IN ADVANCE....ALWAYS.
If they won't pay you in advance then don't take the job...they will screw you"

Not me - a friend says that she has never been "Screwed" in over four years of teaching private classes. She likes to get paid every week - so her enthusiasm doesn`t wane.

She also says that classes get cancelled from time to time - but usually about the time she is feeling paranoid or just too tired - and would like a little break anyway.

So, get paid when you want and don`t worry too much.

Anyone can randomly point out someone who is the exception. I have been here even longer than your friend and I have never been screwed. The reason is that I get paid in advance and I believe in a policy of "why take a risk?". Look, the point is this....don't risks that you don't have to.

Where's the option, I DON'T DO PRIVATES.

Too risky.

went ahead and added to op that "once a month" are meant "one month in advance" but can't edit the actual poll now. Thanks to each user that pointed that out as I now realize more clarity was needed and it could have meant more than one thing.

Anyways as it appears with that correction most people want either advance pay or pay on same day, with a small number of exceptions of people allowing pay after several classes were taught/tutored. Please continue to vote and/or make comments. But anyways as of yet it seems most everyone wants their pay up front and "that's that."

I need to clarify.

It's not that I want the pay in advance. Seriously, it's my students who have always insisted that they pay in advance. The few times that I've adamantly said that I wanted to be paid week to week, they got upset because they rightly sensed that I wasn't going to make a real committment to them. They did it, but they would have preferred paying one month in advance. That's just the Korean way.
