three recruiters, my never again story.

1. Found me a job no problem and I was off to Korea the very next week. As soon as I got my passport I was on a plane the very next morning. After that I never heard from her again.

2. Found me a job no problem. I had to send my documents to Korea but I did eventually get them back. Arrived at the airport was met by recruiter, little old Korean man who spoke little to no English. Was ushered out to the buses, had to buy a ticket myself and was sent off to Wonju where I was kicked off the bus at 12:30 AM in a dark dingy buslot. The director who was supposed to meet me did not show up so I stopped a Korean out for a walk in his PJ's and got him to phone the director for me. Ohhh so sorry I will be there in half and hour....sigh.

3. Guy named Hongee(hong gee) got me an interview with the public school and I took a bus from Taebaek to Suwon. He met me at the bus terminal and took me to the school. I got to meet the principal(great guy) and several of the other teachers as well as my co-teacher. I signed the contract and off we went back to Suwon. The whole way he kept telling me what trouble I would be in if I went to another school, cancelled the contract etc..... At the end of my contract with my old school I wanted to move some of my stuff to the new school instead of hauling it back and forth to Canada. Could he meet me at the station again? No he was busy....I never even got to tell him when I was arriving. When I arrived at the airport on my way back he was again too busy to pick me up or arrange transportation. I had to take the shuttle bus to Hotel Castle in Suwon where I was met by my co-operating teacher. Still no call or anything. I will make it a point to call him when I am looking for a new job let him show me around and whatnot and then go back to the school and sign without him getting the bonus. Screw him.

Recruiters are like cockroaches feeding off of the crumbs of the foreign teachers.

The recruiter in-cognito.

Has anyone had an experience like this. The human being who hooked me up with the job at my hogwan gave me the impression that he was a teacher at the school helping out his non-english speaking boss.
When I got off the plane, he informs me that the name of the school is different than the one I was told. And the details contract were of course going to be different now, "but it's pretty much the same. Call me if you have any problems".

I'm very lucky that the school ended up being ok. But I'd never talk to him again if I ran into him on the street.
