I've had some small, bland ones before, but I found my best one ever at an outdoor sojubang between Hakdong ne-gori and Gangnam Office station, near Apgujeong.

We were there with a large party and ordered 5 of these giant egg rolls, laden with ketchup, cheese, ham, vegetables...OMFG!

This was probably the best thing in the world for me, when I'm totally lit at 5am at sojubang.

Have any of you ever had this or any other Korean foods that act as a really great breakfast for Western tastes?

(I'd truly give you ANYTHING for REAL if it was a "proper" English breakfast....)

But really....it can't be Saturday soon enough if I can have someone sle cook my brekkie....

i think its kinda considered a child's side dish and thats why its usually a little bland and sliced up.

good, stuff though. i think there is a place in sunae that also serves egg mari. i also like egg tang too.

Yep, that's egg mari. Simple Korean fair. I actually ate that this morning which is uncommon for me.

Nothing like the western breakfasts. Usually other side dishes accompany it, usually dipped and binded by egg and griddled. A little bland but filling.

Try a dish of chigae or gogi tang as a main course.

I'm not really a big fan of Korean food for breakfast either, so when I'm away from home I'll usually try to get either omu-rice (fried rice covered with egg and ketchup) or gamja-jeon (potato pancake) if all that's handy is meokkoli bar type places (for example if I'm out hiking).

Bibimbap will also do in a pinch since it has an egg, but I still can't bring myself to eat sundubu for breakfast, as much as I love it the rest of the day.

Another thing that's good for breakfast is the haemtoseuteu. But, of course, that's westernized. Still, I'm amazed that it exists and happy to find it...wouldn't it be too greasy by local standards?

I find there's nothing like jjigae in the morning.

I just talked to the coffee shop lady two doors down from our store. I gave her a bunch of ideas on breakfast items and stressed her not to Koreanize it. I taught here how to make a real Ham and Egg bagel (the only problem with it is that the ham could be a little bit better but it isnt all that bad) and she does a pretty good job with it. She thought I was nuts since I didnt want any vegtables on it

I do not know if she is going to use my ideas, but I gave her some pretty simple things to make:

Waffles
Pancakes
(stressing that these two need really good maple syrup)
Biscuits and Gravy

I think the next ed of the Seoul Classified is doing a write up on her.

i think i had that this summer when i was out drinking.
mmm...it has veggies in it & i don't eat veggies so....
i can't really remember how it tastes because i was so drunk when i ate it...

Meh. I'll take my egg log and soju at 5am.

This pic is close to the same size of the one at the sojubang that I went to. The one that I had was thicker and stuffed with cheese. Certainly not a side dish, IMO.

my local pub does THE best western breakfast. I just told him exactly what i wanted and after a few tries (cold baked beans) etc, his wife now has it spot on. sauseges, pile of bacon, fried eggs, baked beans (hot!) chilli beef, wedges, bagettes, and hot coffee to boot , all for the low low price of 6500! couldnt ask for better espicially as its all day long!all good, yeah ive tried that egg rolll stuff, not too bad at all! laterz
