| Only 15 minutes from my post to a complete history of dogs eating feces. I think Real Reality must have had this archived, which is most worrisome. |

| This speaks to the Korean (male) insecurity about their teeny weenies. Hey, I'm even happier today to be a cat person. |

I'll bite (no pun intended). Why DO dogs eat feces? |
Well, there are a few schools of thought....
One: dietary deficiency or pancreatic enzyme deficiencies are the culprits.
Two: Anxiety or boredom
Quite vast in reasoning, either way, Koreans are not giving the dogs any attention, killing other dogs in front of them (what else causes anxiety -- on such a vast scale?), or not feeding them needed nutrients.

and like some of you, what chokes me is that the guy was saying that because the dog is a 5th generation "purebreed", he is worth 80 million won. I think he should remove about 5 zeros from the number to show its true value. |
I agree 100%. But let's not forget, the owner said he treated it like it was his own child. And, tied it up with a rope at night in a parking lot
Well, I sure never tied up my chickens. They had free range on 110 acres. And they also had their own house. A huge "dog house" that my mom (she was a great artist and architec) built them and it looked like a small castle. It even had a swimming pool (kids size).

I had a good laugh about that story with my students on Friday.
I have two cats that are free to go outside at any time. I do worry a bit about one of them because she is a real 'people person'. Why do I worry? Because last spring one of my adult students told me that when he was a kid his job was to catch cats for his mom. She would boil them alive to make some kind of medicine for her back. But my girls do wear collars so I hope anyone who was hunting for cat soup would leave them alone. |

When I was in Pusan, a Korean friend took me to the area where they had pet stores. There was store after store of puppies. But, contrary to what they say, there were also a ton of cat stores. And OMG They all had kittens that cost up to 1,000,000 Won each.
Now, when I was a kid, I once had grand champion chicken at The Ohio State fair. It went to auction, and it was bought by Wendy's for 1,500 $.
All grand champion livestock at The Ohio State Fair MUST go to auction.
But, us kids that rasied poultry were lucky. When the kids that had steers pigs, and other large animals sold them, the buyer kept them. So, then, for example, if OutBack Steak House payed 50,000$ for the grand champion steer, they kept it, and would serve it to costumers at a huge price.
But they knew that whoever the kid was that won grand champion chicken had raised if from an egg, and it would kill him or her to part with it. So, whoever bought the grand champion chicken always gave it back to the kid.
Of course, all of us kids used our prize money for college.
