It's beamed all over Southeast Asia, in a pathetic attempt to 'bring Korea to the world', but no one is watching (except for the BBC News). Most SE Asians are already wise to Koreans as obtuse, insensitive, drunken slobs. While that is not true of most Koreans, it's the image that they project abroad.

and that other show lets speak KOREAN! OHHH PLEASE!!
thats torture 101...

IM curious why they would have a WAYGOOK teaching korean??
just shows you how messed up the Korean logic is..
they use koreans for everything else.. the news, hosting shows, reporting, etc.. but to teach KOREAN they use a NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKER! DUH!!!! so we can all learn bad pronunciation!!

my WIFE says what is this a joke!!! he corrects the guests korean!
but he is not even saying it right!!
wife says his korean is garbage!
I might have watched it.. if it was a better put together show!!
but frankly its another bad highschool production...
NO THANKS..

Isn't his name Steve Rivera? What a putz. My Korean is nowhere near perfect but I just can't stand listening to him butcher Korean. I have conferred with my Korean wife many times and we agree that he uses ajoshi vocabulary, expressions, and stresses (those long aspirations... like when he says "waaaaahhhhhhhhhh"!) but uses the whiney Seoulite teeny bopping girl intonation and accent... classic, truly classic! I wonder who his teachers were. Shocked

Some of his guests are pretty good like that Jason guy and the Italian girl. Why don't they fire Stevie and let one of the guests take over the show?

Though it may make little sense to have a foreigner to teach Korean - and I just think he's a loud obnoxious meat - he seems to be more than qualified:

Stephen Revere

- California Polytechnic University Pomona 1994.6 Philosophy Major Dean's List, President of Philosophy club, Arts council rep.
- Seoul National University Language Research and Evaluation Center 1998.8 Intensive Korean Program Completed highest level.
- Yonsei University Graduate School of Education Masters in Teaching Korean as a Second Language Final thesis review scheduled for 2003.12.9 First non-Asian student admitted to the program.

- KBS : Super Sunday 2002.10 2002.11 English teaching taxi driver.
- EBS : TV English Conversation 2000.10 present co-host.
00000000Listening Special (radio) 2002.2 2002.8 co-host.

- Sejong University 2002.2 2003.2 Lecturer Taught first and second year English classes as well as Advanced English Conversation
- Inha University 2000.2 2002.1 Lecturer Taught first and second year English classes as well as English Speech

Also...don't people use the word "golly" anymore?? What's the difference between that and gee, geez, gosh..?

The ad for Samyak Foods after the Arirang News turned me off to their products. I like to drink soy milk everyday, but I switched to another brand after seeing their commercial even though the other brand is 200 won more expensive. I just can't have my money going to support such in-your-face Christianity.
Sorry, God, but I don't trust you with my soybeans.

When do they have BBC news? is it in the morning? I haven't seen it.

After watching Arirang, I'm now convinced that green tea and purple bamboo-salt are the greatest substances ever discovered.
No wonder everyone is able to chain-smoke and not keel over.
