Any big gamja tang (pork bone soup) fans out there?

Do you really feel healthier?

The Toronto Star just wrote this glowing piece on a gamja-tang joint in Little Korea. One of my students said daum.net wrote an article ABOUT the article....

I love gamja-tang.

The potato is all mushed up by the hot stuff and just melts in your mouth.
The meat sometimes is a little questionable but if you can find a gamja-tang that stacks the meat on as well then it is a good dish indeed.

Another great winter dish.

Do you mean Gamja tang or the very similar pork bone soup, bbyeo-da-gwi. (Sorry about the spelling, is it ٱ?)

They're both delicious.

I've had students angrily denounce both dishes as "Western food", created to cater to U.S. soldiers. Do you know anything about that?

Oh! Yum! Love the stuff.

There have it fresh/packaged in Home Plus with packaged soups and stuff, next to the packaged gimchi. Even the packaged stuff is fine- love those bones!

the gamja tang in T.O and Korean are different,
especially the smell. The gamja tangs in toronto have a heavy pork smell, while the one in korea are masked alot better.

the taste is also better and less oily than in toronto.

I went to a great Kamja Tang place in Itaewon the other day, it was featured on 'Mat TV'..it was a bit pricey, at 40,000 won, but it fed the old lady, me and the two boyz. It also came with 'Bossam'..excellent, just excellent. The owner also made some extra stuff for the kids in case they didn't want some of the side dishes...
I'll try to explain where it's at..let's see it's on the lowest level of 'hooker hill', where they road takes a fork, it's on the right...
Worth a look....
