Just a warning about Etik recruiting company here. They don't research the jobs they offer, many jobs through them have turned out very bad for the teachers taking them. The owner, Mr Han, is devious, dishonest and tries to rip the schools off and in some instances, actually has threatened some schools' directors. They are a new company and a very unprofessional one which won't be in business long as they continue to build a bad reputation for themselves. They don't care about the teachers, as long as they get paid and I have heard from good sources that they even try to rip off overseas recruiters that help them. Just stay away. You want more info, then just email me. Cheers and good luck to all those searching for SAFE jobs!

I have established a good working relationship with Etik and dare I say, so have many others.
I've had my ups and downs being in Korea but at no point in my time here has Mr Han and his staff ever left me stranded.
If you have a personal beef with Etik, I would advise you to instill maturity and professionalism in your handling of the situation.
It doesn't give you the right to publicly discount the company nor allow you to run a smear campaign.
I know Etik well enough to defend their good name.
here's my number:019-807-9791.

generally speaking, It's my opinion that you should stay away from recruiters. They earn and extra-ordianry fee from the hagwon that you're placed. They really don't care about the working conditions or the reputation of the hagwon. They only want their fee as quickly and painlessly as possible.

Please let me repeat that this is only my opinion, and for every 5 or 6 uncaring recruiters, I'm sure there's at least one that is good.

If you manage to find one that your comfortable with, then great...please share your positive experiences so that others can just as easily find good ones as they are warned about the bad ones.

I went through ETIK and they placed me at a hogwan which matched my stated specifications, minus the saturdays off, which was re-negotiated into my contract after two days on the job. My biggest beef with Mr. Han was in not being greeted at the airport. After waiting for half an hour, feeling stranded, I phoned his cell and was promptly picked up and escorted by him and the friendly staff. He said I could call him anytime if there's a problem, though I've never had to. All in all, the experience was a good one, and they have built up a network of contacts to place someone in a situation of one's choosing.

Recruiters are middle men and nothing more. Skip going through them if you can, but they can be useful for a first timer. I may even go through ETIK as a second timer someday, because it's convenient and I think I'm unlikely to see any of the savings that would accrue to hogwans by my direct contact instead.

Does anyone know if ETIK recruiters in SUWON are any good? (I'm assuming there are different recruiters handling each of the different areas of Korea.)

Thanks!
