|
|
OK I will admit talent when I see it..
and some Korean men have beautiful voices..
I love ballad music and koreans can turn them out..
some of my favs,.
Lee Seung chul ( this guy is legend! )
been listening to him since 97. although he has been hitting the charts here since 89
Shin Seung Hun ( Another legend!! ) this guys is AWESOME!!
man this is another music genius. he writes all his own music, produces it all too.. and a true artist.. not a sell out like many other K stars..
Kim Gun Mo ( the big rival to Shin Seung hun) Gun mo doesnt write
but is a great singer.. abit of a sell out.. but still enjoying listening to his ballads..
KIM BUM SOO
the youngest of the bunch. I like a few of the young singers..
but I dont give them the respect until they age abit..
BUt this guy has proved himself. had a lot of great hits..
and he will become a legend when he enters his 30's for sure..
so he is on my list..
now for my all time favorite..
Cho kwon Woo ( we are talking legend here ) not to mention his father who is considerd to be the best ever traditional korean singer..
this guy truely is fantasic..his latest albums havent been as great as his earlier ones.. but still beautiful ballads..
And Of course the one and only!
Cho Yong Pil
what else can I say about this guy.. but he is the greatest ever..
he truely is the LEGEND! ask any korean about this guy..
he was the 80's King.. the biggest star in korea and a wonderful singer!
stay tuned for my females soon..

Kim Gun Mo had some great stuff and still comes up with the odd hit or two even now. I still listen to his old Exchange album now and again. |

What about Jo Song Mo, he is OK.
he is quite young but he can sing some good ballads.
I heard a ballad by PSY the other day. Yes, the Champion guy and it blew me away. Couldn't believe how good it was.
I think it is brand spanking new called ڴϱ, awesome. |

The vocalist is a male, so I guess it counts.
from Assoto Union has a great voice. |

Bug's Music www.bugsmusic.co.kr has lyrics to most of the songs on their site (thousands and thousands) If you can navigate the korean far enough on your own and you have the window playing your song click on the button with 纸 which shows the lyrics if availabe.
if your not familiar with the site, you might need a korean friend to help navigate it. |

Yeah I meant the second one. Got the names confused. I blame a sudden loss of blood to the head. |

Lee Seung Chul is definitely top of the pile, but here's a few other guys who've put out some decent stuff:
Kim Jang Hoon. Nan Namja da was a cracking song back in 2000/01, complete with one of the best of those 'getting beaten up/hit by a car in the snow' type videos. Took a couple of years off and he's come back with some 'Kokuryo kingdom'-themed thing that I don't know much about.
Yoon Jong Shin. Don't know if this guy is still making music but I hope he is... Was in an early 90s band called 015B (best song - i jaen anyong) and his solo ballads like 'Orae jon ku nal' are brilliant.
