In Germany, apparently, Wal-Mart had a tough time with bag packers. See in Germany, people pack their own bags. In large parts of folksy America, the have a cashier and a "bag boy". But when Wal-Mart tried to import the bag boy concept into Germany, the Germans were like LEAVE MY STUFF ALONE! Once it ran over the laser scanner it was suddenly theirs and they didn't want anyone's mittëngrubbëns on it. |

The original post brought back memories for me of one rather quite annoying aspect of Korean culture which I'm sure all of us have at least heard of during our stays there, which is the whole "social club", "Junior & Senior" and "MT "(Membership training) scene.
Since no foreigner can really be a part of these groups (not that it 's any sort of loss,) I can only best guess and summon it up as a strange parody of the Greek frat system in U.S Colleges, where a lot of hazing and boozing goes on during their get-togethers, and more importantly the members have a lifelong business bond ( as in the "old boy network" in America,) whereby jobs are passed on between the old and new ranks of the club. |
