Yeah I'm really glad this movie is coming to korea. I find there are some interesting Parallels between this movie and some of the stuff that goes down in Korea (eg leadership in this story is intially passed down through the eldest male).

I bought a copy on DVD when I was back in New Zealand and I plan on showing scenes of it for my 2nd graders because they are studying about new zealand in an upcoming chapter of the english book. I also plan on feeding some of them marmite Twisted Evil

Here's a weird story for you
A long long time ago, maybe even as far back as 97 if my weakened memory serves me right, I was teaching on the East Coast (OF NZ) for Ngati Porou (a Maori Tribe). I was living in Whangara about 2 km from the Marae (Maori tribal meeting house) that is featured in the movie. (which I have yet to see).

Anyhow as things went, I had a lot of free reign as the tourism teacher for the district and decided one day to pick several of my students and head down to the beach to catch some crayfish, which were/are so plentiful that at times you could get your fill by simply walking in knee deep water and reaching under the rocks.

However first we had to get permission from the local Kamatua (elder dood) for permission to go fishing. So we got the permission then went for a walk alongthe beach towards the small island you can apparently see in the film. The Kamatua walked with us explaining the significance of the whale carving that sits on the Marae's roof. The small island represents the whale that was ridden into land, by who, or for what reason I can't exactly remember, however here is the point of this story...

We found a dead whale washed up on the lee of the island. The old man with us plucked these weird growths off the balleen (lips) of the whale and ate a couple of them. It was pretty exciting at the time because the whole village came to check it out and it was seen as a rather good sign. The local DOC (department of Conservation ) came to check it out also, do a few tests and a cursory autosopy then buried it in the sand in front of the Marae. The locals are allowed to unearth it several months later to retrieve the bones.

Anyway when the movie came out, I thought it was amazing that I had such a weird connection to the story.

I saw it at the DVD shop last weekend. Apparently it's been released on DVD here in Korea already, which was pretty quick if it was just in the theaters in October. Didn't see it, though. We don't get many western movies out here in the provinces. I had to go all the way to Seoul to see "White Chicks" last week. Now that was some funny shiznit.
