Well, my hubby (Korean) loves Root Beer. Can't get enough of it. Seriously.
He's also had Guiness and liked it (although I doubt he'll order it very often).
Oh, and I like Pocari Sweat. It's best on a hot hot day and then just guzzle an entire can. mmm... |

Weird dude, somebody remembered Rhubarb. Trippy show.
Baked beans aren't too much of a favorite in my household, and the in-laws never eat butter and rarely cheese. Milk is never there, and they think breakfast cereal, which by the way is obscenely expensive here, is just for small children.
They also think brown sugar is "dirty", and good perked coffee comes from a ratio of a single scoop of grounds to 10 cups of water
They also want me to go to hospital because I'm vegetarian.
C'est la vie. |

| Hubby (Korean) says root beer tastes like Chinese medicine (this was also confirmed by a friend's husband who is also korean) which is maybe why many Koreans don't like it. Black olives are a bit too salty for hubby's liking. |

While touring the old Soviet Union, an American buddy said someone spoiled root beer for him when they pointed out it has the same flavour as cheap toothpaste. My Dutch cousins can't stand it either.
If strong, artificial mint flavours are unpalatable to Koreans, then how do you explain the toothpaste? (I brought 2 tubes of Tom's of Maine from home and my Korean gf is hooked.)
She also loves: chai, cocoa (is anyone else pissed that the dark brown "Won Foods Cocoa" can does not, in fact, contain cocoa; but instead some sugary mixture?), orange-chocolate chip cookies, Belgian (milk) chocolate and cinnamon.
Licorice, amen. I cured an entire hagwon of asking for candy by handing out real black licorice (not the sweet Twizzlers crap) when begged. Even at White Day they were wary of me. |

Unfortunately, they can't stand any real Italian food.
It's too "greasy".
Sigh. |

Yeah about the mint! My husband insists that any flavour of breath mint that I have people send me from home tastes like the mentholatum stuff you rub on your body after you sprain something.
Ooh ooh and they don't like dill pickles, only those nasty-ass sweet ones. |
Has he ever eaten mentholatum? I hope not. Maybe he thinks breath mints taste the way mentholatum smells...hehehe |

Just a question of habit I think.
My wife used to hate cheese with a passion, same thing with cheese cake and other rich foods (ex: fettucini alfredo).
Now, she loves the stuff. Question of habit. |
My wife is still at this stage. Anything rich is a no-go, ie. fettucini alfredo, cheese cake, pudding, and sour cream. I also can't get her to eat guacamole or any sort of decent salad dressing except thousand island. For some reason, she really loves samgyupsul but won't touch bacon, go figure! |

I have mentioned to korean friends that I've eaten kangaroo steak, and their mouths dropped. Don't think they like steak from that particular animal.
I don't think they would like beetroot either, or tamarillos for that matter. |
