If it gets the double barber pole places away form hagwons on the same floor, more power to the law.

But remember, Korea passes a lot of crazy laws and has a lot of crazy laws on the books like "no driving through red lights". They make a big show of enforcing these laws the first bit and then nothing ever gets enforced.

Wasn't Miari off-limits to foreigners for a spell? I remember that they had that sign out front.

Yes, but what I can't figure out from the caption is that it is closed after midnight... no mention of what happens before?

But what is Hooker Disneyland?

Siheung is a RLD in Seongnam where the majority of girls wear costumes. Sailor-moon-esque stuff.

Hooker Disneyland is well.. I forget the name in Korean but thats how its referred to. It sounds similar to Cheongnyangli in Korean but its not the same. Its close to Seoul, in that its a bit of a trek to get to. You have to go to some subway stop. Then take a bus. Then from the bus stop you need to take a taxi. Or just drive. But in other words its not convenient like all the others. But apparently its worth the trek all the way out there... hence the reference to a themepark.

All the raids took place as soon as the law came into effect at midnight Thursday. Joonang Ilbo reported 59 male customers, a bunch of pimps and mamasans got nabbed en masse. No word on who these customers were. Maybe some of your co-workers were "sick" today?

Wow... and I bet they were all foreigners, right?

After all, wasn't it the Korea Herald that quoted some gov't official stating that prostitution was a "foreigner problem?"
