Things never to say to your elders...
Dangguenyiji! !
Right on! Of course! (That's the carrot!)
Gajin geon bulal du jjok Ҿ 쯕
I don't have much to my name but I've got pluck. (All I have is a pair of *beep*) |

I don't have Korean on this computer, but:
"Jeolla jjang!!"
As in 'that's the *beep*-ing bomb!' and similar expressions.
or the more toned down without expletive:
"Yeolla jjang!!" |

I hear jjang a lot less frequently these days, it may have had its day.
I like bangkok meaning 'stayed in my room.'
"Where did you go on vacation?" "Bangkok." |

If we're gonna revive a bunch of dead threads, lets get this one rolling again. I can always use more slang. Here's some I know. You'll notice i concentrate on the insults and dirty stuff. correct any mistakes please.
 byeong shin : retard
˽ ddong sa : sh*t!
 jaen jang : d*mn
yeolla, cholla : really (like 'that's cool')
߸ yalijima : what the f*ck are you looking at?
Ծ kka mokoso : i forgot (when you forget something for a moment)
߾ kam bbak haesso : same as above
 beom saeng : nerd
Ƕ ddo lai : creep(?)
,, : short of ֱ̾,ֱ and ֱ. Used simply as 'he' or 'she' when talking about somebody who doesn't require polite speech. The plural forms are , and ³. These are very useful. |

is a lot more like "f*cking" (as an intensifier) than "really." A lot of Koreans dislike hearing you say it, even if you think it's cute because you're a foreigner. Be careful with that one. |

i dunno... is definitely a little low class but is it as bad as f*cking? i think i've heard cute little school girls say it. actually, i wanted to translate it as 'hella' because they sound similar, but I thought not very many people use 'hella.'
but, yeah, of course, all this stuff is dangerous. i wouldn't really say any of it to someone i'm using with. |

Isn't it ? I could be wrong, cuz I've never seen it in writing or anything, but my buddies pronounce it that way, and I always thought it was derived from (sorta like )...
Anyways, it's definitely more like "effing" than "damn", I'd say... Schoolgirls swear too...
I'm super-careful with the Korean cusswords, only around friends I'm ultra-familiar with who don't even flinch to hear anything from me. Saying it just to get a laugh outta strangers usually generates the opposite effect-especially if the REST of your Korean lexicon is limited. I know that I can't STAND hearing Koreans drop the f-bomb left, right, and center unless they're good friends of mine or pretty fluent with the English.
It certainly beats using ʹ, ſ or whatever all the time, but it's really not a very nice word!
(**Anecdote**- my buddies are slight jackasses, and when they taught me this they told me it was perfectly fine, natural, colloquial language. I still wouldn't say that the ø was " ־" to the ajumma like they wanted me to, though... I could just tell by the way they were laughing about it that it was all bad... haha... ) |

When I try to say the province my husband is from...Jeolla province....he says to just tell people he is from Jeonju... ...I can't say it properly...and the way he described it to me was like that...maybe used like "no f-ing way"....or you are f-ing kidding.....well ...that is how I took it...but I'm pretty sure little girls shouldn't be saying it... |

I don't know about or . But is profane, and is about the same. Yeah, I had the same experience, but my ROK army friends kept a straight face, so I went to church and used it and got slapped...Again...
They would usually laugh, but then they would usually hit me before they started laughing.
Like this one girl I called . I knew better. I just wanted to play the dumb foreigner card and she what happened. What happened was that I learned she had been working out.
She was pretty cute mad tho, and all worked out in the end.
Anyway, I eventually started asking people if words I wasn't sure of were suitable for church. Then I went to church and used them anyway. Sucker for punishment I guess. Needless to say I didn't do real well in that church. |

That's right. comes from , which basically is used as an adverb meaning "f\/cking" (I *think* is a bit softer than ). means p3nis and somehow makes it into an adverb. Many Koreans and non-Koreans don't know how to spell this correctly, so they may write or , but the original spelling is . |

I was led to believe that Ƕ (Dorai) is the equivalent to calling someone "an insane person"..."madman", I guess.
Can anyone clarify the difference between (micha-so, not sure about the spelling) and ģ (michin)? Some say the latter is quite rude, but some of the kids I teach seem to have no trouble flinging it around with impunity. |
