This thread seems to have gone a little off the rails, but I've gotta ask- where'd you all get the idea that women like metrosexuals? Korean women seem to, I know that much, but I don't know of any western chick willing to fight her boyfriend for the bathroom mirror every day.

Well I'd make a separation between the 30something Korean men and the younger 20 Korean men.

It strikes me that younger Korean men have a lot of very attractive qualities Western women want in men but don't find in Western men much these days:

You must either be gay or Korean.
Quote:
nice dark hair,

So, lemme get this straight. Western men don't have dark hair? Or they just don't have nice dark hair?
Quote:
slender swimmer bodies Western women like,

True
Quote:
hairless bodies,

Hair is is caused by testosterone, so if you like effeminate men, then I guess hairless might be nice.
Quote:
they dress well,

They spend their mother's money on new clothes, often. The result is often a polished, if slightly uptight look, with a hint of gayness.
Quote:
they smell nice,

How strange. Back home, western women have always loved how I smell. Suddenly, over here, our smell is brought up as on of the things that K guys have over us. Doesn't hold water. They may smell different, but I doubt they smell better, that is, until you've become intimate with one and developed a preference/positive association.
Quote:
a concern for appearance and hygiene, good grooming,

Never heard anything more rediculous. Like western guys are not into grooming and hygeine? Absurd. I shower, shave, put on deoderant and after shave, a suit and a tie, and go to work, five days a week. Putting mouse in your hair to make your colored bangs look just so is not a "concern for heigene and grooming", it's called "showing signs of latent homosexuality".
Quote:
they're cultured,

OK I got it now, you're joking, this whole thing is an attempt at humour, right? CULTURED! Pray tell, how is living at home with your mommy and daddy at the age of 29 going to make you cultured? How is never visiting another country going to make you cultured? How is calling your g/f 20 times a day because you're insanely possessive cultured? How is thinking that women must be demure and chaste and not too confident or independant cultured? I could go on and on, whatever, how absurd.
Quote:
they're smart

And western men aren't? How staggeringly absurd.
Quote:
and have great job potential,

By nature of being Korean? Doubt it. My guess is that they would show the same variation of incomes accross a cross section of the population that western society would show.
Quote:
they're very devoted to their family,

And we're not? How bizzarre. Being tied to mum's apron strings at the age of 30 is not the only way to be devoted to your family.
Quote:
they're very attentive to their girlfriends,

Wonderful way to put it, you could of course put it another way, they're hyper jealous and over protective.
Quote:
they're not hyper about holding their girlfriend's purse for a few minutes,

How wonderful.
Quote:
they're not paranoid about PDAs,

They are indeed, this is exactly wrong.
Quote:
they have a certain relaxed intimacy with their male friends that Western women might find refreshing and cute.

A hint of gayness may be sexy to certain women.
Quote:
They might dance well too.

Exactly wrong, I go to clubs a lot, and this is exactly wrong.

Congratulations. This is one of the most absurd posts I have ever read in my life. Well done!

But why, why, would a western woman even think about dating a korean male? Are these women desperate? Overweight? Not attractive? Been hurt by western men? Or what....western men are pigs?
Even korean women know better!

cuz they are damn FOINE! =)

Yes, the best men are either spoken for or gay. But why a western woman would want to take up with a soju-sucking, spitting, puking, abusive, manner-free primate is beyond me, unless there is some masochistic fascination with the above. A few western girls I know hooked up with such guys, who proceeded to slap them silly, and they stuck with them anyway. Perhaps that's what they were going for, but their 'yellow fever' made it all somehow more exotic. I pity them all; I really do.

That description is limited to Korean men? Shocked I thought they came in a whole rainbow ( with soju substitutions of course)

I re-read his post and I don't see anything to get up in arms

That was actually a woman's post, if I am not mistaken.

If she excluded that part of the sentence I would have been okay with it. But making a generalization through implication about western men being fat smelly bastards that can't dress well and don't care about their girlfriends is a load of carp. How did she do that? By including the phrase "but don't find in Western men much these days".

Quote:
And you don't see me or any other of your brethren getting in a stink over what you perceive to be an insult.

I said "Next time avoid insulting me and my brethren, okay?". Meaning, I think she is insulting western men, a category that I fall into.

Suppose I was speaking on the behalf of western men. Perhaps they are nodding their heads in quiet agreement with what I said? Not everyone that reads these threads, posts; and not everyone that feels offended, likes to say so. Had Itaewonguy made his post earlier (I had originally planned a point-by-point rebuttal, but eventually went with the "brevity is the soul of wit" style) I wouldn't have felt the need to make my post.

You think it's okay that she insults western men, fine. You're entitled to your opinion.

Hey, you posted the flamebait. What did you expect him to do? If you saw a post saying "western women are fat losers and make lousy girlfriends, gimme klove baby!" what would you do?

I'm still mourning the loss of my "jgirls versus kgirls" post. It was deemed too politically incorrect for the light of day. Mad

Well whatever, but it wasn't an absurd post at all (I'm rather surpised to see Itaewon guy use the word absurd actually Confused ). His response to it rather struck me as a bit insecure, well, either that or he lives in the countryside or something surrounded by Korean farmers boys. I sometimes wonder if people on this board are living in the same universe as me.

I meet so many, really sharp dressed, cool, educated and confident Korean guys in Seoul city. And charming as many as them are, most of the western men I meet here are scruffy and a bit twitchy to be honest, not really representative of men back home at all. Explorer25 ought to open her mind to the idea of K-love, what's good for Princess is surely good for her^^

Who cares, if you find me unattractice, smelly and unkept you obviously aren't someone I want to date. Fair cop, find something better to do with your life boys than chasing the girls 24/7, I'm a great believer in fate and that the best way to meet the good girls is to go about your business in a plesant manner and a smile and you'll find someone special...................
Paul

P.S. anyone who tells me pink shirts with a white vest underneath to match the white trainers isn't totally farcical clothing obviously has absolutely no clue.........

That's what the girls tell you. The girls say a special girl will come to YOU and you will get along perfectly.

Well, they've been saying that since I was 14. I'm still waiting Wink

Seriously, this is just bullship. You've got to make having a woman in your life a necessity, learn the ropes, and work your ass off for it... just like anything else in life.

Why? if its going to be effort and not a pleasure I'm not interested thanks....... There are enough things in life that are hard work. Friendships and lovers should be easy at least during the honeymoon period. Meh maybe I don't care about sex as much as some, that and my mum has resigned herself to not gtting any grandkids.............

Alright, alright...enough is enough. I guess it's time to spill the beans.
I'll tell you exactly where all the hot guys are...this has gone on long enough...

You know the calbi restaurant? Start there and turn right. Go down the street 'till you hit the PCbang. Turn right again, and its the hoff on the corner. Thats where all the hot guys are.

Enjoy!

I have chest hair. So what?

If my girl has a problem with it, if she shaves, I will too.

At least it's making some kind of declaration of having made an effort to look nice. And it sure beats shapeless jeans, nike running sneakers, and a t-shirt.

And winter is coming too. Give me strength. Time to get your wooly hats and puffer coats out again fellas.
