Let's go with better options. I'll let the others fill you in, I don't feel like showboating my stupidity today. |

I go with norton. I'd renew but I wouldn't pay for it. Get a hack.
Is there anything better if you really want to ensure you don't get infected with a virus?
I'm not really a tech-guy so if there is please let me know. |

What could be simpler than embedding a virus in a hacked antivirus app? |

I just bought AVG and it caught 4 trojans/exploits already. Much smaller memory footprint than Norton and seems to be less intrusiuve overall. |

I'm using the free version of AVG on one computer and paid $10 for a renewal of Norton on another.
Happy with both, probably won't renew another year with Norton.
BTW you never have to pay the Norton AV renewal fees if you're willing to tweak your registry or do a format C:\... |

If you want to go free & legal, either grisoft AVG (we have on C's comp),
or AntiVir's Personal Edition.
For EVERYONE, I also highly recommend going to TrendMicro's site, & dl/installing their online scan button, located here:
http://www.trendmicro.com/en/products/desktop/housecall/more/download.htm
best online scan I know of, and - as part of the install process - it checks your VRT library and Java packages, as well, auto-installing/updating them if neccessary.
If you suspect you have a virus, then just click the new TM button up in your browser. Piece o cake.
Regards,
G. |
