The owner of this school claimed himself practicing CHristian and has put up a nice, touching and vision-minded web site. Just recently I came cross that it is a to-be-avoided type school. Can anybody tell your nightmare in working there?

I met a girl that worked there for 2 years. She liked it. That's all I can say.

Remember this: If a place is good to work for, they don't have to advertise for employees. Current employees will tell their friends and by word of mouth, the school would have a waiting list of people wanting to work for them.
Yale is a con just like 99% of the other hakwons in korea. And it's a shame...many more koreas would be speaking halfway decent English if hakwons were run professionally. You are hard pressed to find 5 koreans in your area who can speak English on a professional level. Not kongolish...but English!
Yale will always find a fool to work for them.

This post is meant for all those who might be considering Yale as an option:

Language schools and the language school atmosphere are only what one makes of them. If one is trying to travel with a bit of ESL on the side for beer money, then naturally one will have dark thoughts concerning the profession.

"Nice Guy": You're wrong. Yale is the finest example of a language school that I've run across. Yes, one has to contend with certain inconveniences as one would with any job, but might not the "lack" of teachers willing to immediately jump into a teaching position there be due to the fact that Seogwipo has, PERHAPS, 20 foreigners - of which, 11 work at Yale? It's not Seoul. It's not Pusan. There IS NO POOL OF WORKERS FROM WHICH TO DRAW.

If you're coming to Yale looking for a Christian school, you'll be looking in the wrong place. The owners are decent people who have made no mention of their belief system in public or private while I've been here.

Seogwipo is a small city that attacts a very select crowd. All of my co-workers are, if not enthralled by the job itself (which will be only as enriching as the amount of knowledge you have on the subject of TESL and the amount of effort you put into implementing that knowledge) completely in love with the city. They're mostly out-doorsy types, hiking, beaches, surfing, etc. My fiancee and I are happy to subsist on the relaxing, small town atmosphere, the good food, the skate park, and downloaded movies.

In short: You'll be hard pressed to find a language school as honest and supportive as Yale.

I agree with stloutom. Everything I've heard about Yale down on the south end has been positive. The one drawback is the city from what I've heard. Some people need a bigger city with more western conveniences. But if you love the outdoors and small atmospheres, you'll enjoy Seogwipo.

Go for it. I knew a couple of people who worked there a few months ago and only left because they decided they wanted to return to Canada to raise a family.
