Hi everybody,
I was just wondering if there are any golfers out there and if so how often do you go? Where do you go? How expensive are drving ranges? I'm new to dave's and to korea and I am an avid golfer and I'd like to golf here once or twice. Any help will be greatly appreciated. |

I forgot to mention that I'm in Gwangju, about 4 hours south of Seoul. |

I generally hit the driving range about once a week. It costs about 6,000won. I played in Kyongu every couple of weeks on a 9 hole public course, cost 30,000won. The country clubs and private courses can cost up to 250,000won per game. |

I'm avid too, but almost never golf here, too damn expensive. The cheap courses (9 holers) require a sandwedge and putter. The better courses (still kinda crappy really) require 2-300 dollars. So you can either play golf here a few times or pack up the clubs and take them to thailand and golf for a week straight. The cost is the same.
Be warned though if you take your clubs with you get them 'checked' at the airport before you go. You list all your clubs and they check that its true. Keep the little paper for when you return, saves lots of hassles at customs. Especially important if you have nice clubs, I spent an hour argueing with customs the first time I brought my clubs in. They wanted me to pay over a $1000 for my callaways.

I used to play golf a lot in Australia.
Not here, the courses are about 80 000 won minimum a round(includes a caddy though).
I used to have a rich doctor friend so he would take me golfing here at the Changwon Country Club while we spoke in English the whole time. Good deal for me and he was a nice guy.
It freaks me out a little how on most of the courses here there are no trees. |
