It's actually pretty good pay for 13.5 hours at a hagwon. If you take the no housing option it is 1.62m/month |

13.5 hours would be nice.
Do a few 'illegals' on top of that and you wouldn't be doing too bad at all.
It's puzzling they offer an apt yet it's part-time hours. |

Actually its 18 hours a week. Thats 18,000 an hour with the house. 21600 without the house. I did better than that in 1998. Teaching pay is falling fast.

hey if its a nice, clean apt in a decent area thats not bad. 13 hrs a week is nothing. I make 1.5 a month with a great apartment (3 bedroom all to myself) utilities included, in a nice area, cell phone provided by the school, and i work about 14-15 hrs a week (actually teaching hours is 14-15 but i'm at the school for about 25-30 hrs a week), no split shifts. I have tons of free time between classes but the only problem is i get off around 9. I've met and heard about alot of ppl who work 35+ hours a week, living in a crummy rat infested apartment the size of a shoe box. Sure they make a whole 500 000 won more than me but the trade off with quality of living conditions isnt worth it. |

That's about par for the course. 120 hours a month at 2.0 million works out to 16700 per hour, not including housing and airfare. They're actually doing you a favour because you have all kinds of free time to find another, higher paying job. |

SHit, I never really thought it was that bad. Been out of the hogwan thing for 7 years, so never did the math out like that. I just thought that offer looked really low, but I guess it's par for the course.

4.5 hours x 3 days is 13.5 hours - I'm not sure what math you are using to arrive at 18 hours. Yes you will be on site for 18 hours but presumably 1.5 hours/day of that will be a break time - perhaps dinner. It does say 4.5 hours of teaching. |

You dodo-heads! It's three days a week! That's the best part of the damn job, not the actual hours worked. That's three days to get ahead with your lives or hell, get another job and make 3 mill! Visa and apt., 3 days a week for 1.3. Pretty good, really. Not that I want it. |

6 hours a day on site. Thats the only time that really matters to me. Sitting at a desk doing nothing or working, its the same thing, if I can't be somewhere else making cash.

That is about what Korean teachers make and they work full time. Take that job if this is your second year here and get some part time jobs. |

Mankind knew me back in the day when I was making 1.3 million (1997). Yeah, not something I'd go back to...then again, it was 1.3 for a typical hakwon experience. Ahh, how times have changed....working in ESL Stateside and making less!
Oh well, when I first went to Korea it wasn't for the money, and it ain't now either....though, I REALLY miss watching my investments grow.
