I know most single studio apartments are 10-13 pyong, but I'd like to see how much stuff you can actually fit in one of these places. It will give me a good idea on what to bring and what not to bring. Thanks

agraham,

Your place looks relatively new and well-equipped. Some people get really great places to live. If only my employer provided such accommodations. And, I pay utilities, rental fee, and maintenance charge.

hey your place looks just like mine...imagine that! I think mine might be a little bigger tho, but I like how it looks like you have a small separate room with your kitchen table. I took some pics of my place and will put them up after they're developed. Do you not have a bed? A good place should have a kitchen that isn't one of those cupboard fold up types...those things suck.

That places almost looks like a prison cell!

I can not say whether such a place is normal for Seoul, but do you people really think that such a place is nice?

You have absolutely no counter space in the kitchen for cooking. You have only two burners, no oven, and one sink basin. You have no bathtub in your washroom, and no bedroom.

Where is your washing machine?

Yeah, that places looks like heaven?

Are you people for real? Is that really what you consider to be standard housing in Seoul?

Looks pretty standard for a one roomer to me.

Do you think that a hagwon is going to put you in a 32 pyeong apart. pecan???

Maybe you are lucky(I have a 24 pyeong and it is more than sufficient - a lot bigger than most) like I but that place looks fine to me.

That's around average for a hagwon provided apartment. I've lived in better and worse. ( Currently better)

damn my place is huge compared to that... but it still looks alright... i figure if your place is new, clean and close to some amenities then you're getting a good deal

The real downside to big places here is how much time you now need to
spend cleaning them. Cleaning your floor in a one room 3 times a week
isn't bad, but when you have a big place it really sucks. The dirt in this
country just sucks.

I quite like it actually.

I don't miss the bathtub.. never use em. Since you take a shower in the middle of the bathroom it's like having a huge shower stall.
Never felt a need for two sink basins. Two burners is twice as many as I typically need. Ovens are for western food which I don't make. I don't cook at home much at all acutally. Counter space would be nice if I did.

Yeah that sucks. Especially since the laundromat ruined my favorite shirt the other day.

I wouldn't call it heaven, but it's bright, clean, quiet, safe, furnished, bug-free and roomy enough for me.

If you're lucky. Smile

One thing I've learned in my travels of depressed third world nations like England and Mexico is the gross conditions most people are living in. Makes me very happy to be who and where I am.

Haha, you so bad.
I've lived in a place similar to this, a place about 18 pyong with 2 bedrooms, shared with a girlfriend, my last place was a 32 pyong monster with 3 bedrooms all to myself (actually this was too big. Cost a fortune to heat, I never even used a couple of the rooms, took all day virtually to clean). My current place is the best I've had. Maybe 24 pyong, 2 bedrooms, relatively new. good view.
