| I took TKD here for a month without great incident, I stopped going because work was getting me down and I decided TKD was not really for me. I had fun despite getting punched in the mouth by the instuctor after my second class when he asked to see some 'vale tudo' realised he didn't like it too much yet had too much ego to ask me to stop so he punched me, I blew him a kiss and laughed at him, he stopped trying to convince me that TKD was good for streetfights...... The big downside is that the class will be full of kids which is a bit like being at work again which was annoying but otherwise it was all good fun and if you like the idea of doing a martial art to look good at parties then it may be for you........ |

Here was me thinking that there was nothing of any interest in my neighbourhood only to have someone post about a hapkido academy. I know theres plenty of them but to have one that has a reputation is great.
I did hapkido for about 7 months in my first year here and I loved it, even the pain that I endured regularly. Im looking forward to starting again. Hapkido is really good fun and it has lots of different aspects to it, I think that's what kept my interest up.
Have fun whichever one you decide to do but let me say that hapkido is the best!

From Ansan Station to our dojang is about 15 minutes bij bus (number 61) get of at Siheung Police station (KyoungJal Seo).
Walk straight on, turn right on the second street.
Cross this street, after the orange and green samkyubsal restaurant enter a building with a blue sign above it, mentioning hapkido.
It's on the 4th floor. |

After 20 years of training and instructing in TKD (6/7 in Korea), I am not sure where to begin with my experiences. It's late, so I will post more later, however, I've posted several topics/threads on TKD, so do a search...you may find them useful (if they've not been deleted).

For those who are more into progressive styles, there is a jeet kune do (ǵ) association in Korea, though it seems it hasn't set up any studios in Seoul.
