Holy smokes, that one was significantly bigger than last year's, what with the two separate stages and all.... I didn't catch anything at the second stage, though, as I didn't want to lose my prime standing position for the one band I was truly there to see (who completely rocked high and above everyone else, but that's my biased opinion )...
A couple of the groups later on at night were quite lame, just totally aping current hardrock American bands (especially those guys that covered "Du Hast"- good lord!)... I'd say the best were Polysics (of course), the band dressed up like nurses covered with blood (not really musically, but their performance was great and I nearly got killed near the stage), and the Tokyo Shocke Boys (I know they are not a band, but I laughed my ass off). A bunch of the other Korean groups were semi-decent, too, but those were the ones that stuck out for me.
All I can say, is I hope the decent reception for Polysics will result in their albums being as readily available in Korea as L'arc en Ciel or X-Japan... I did notice that the CDs they had on sale at their booth got sold out... |
