Have any of you noticed that a bad day in korea seems so much worse than a bad day back home? Why is that?

Says CLG who: is sick, is at work, sees that it's raining, has no umbrella, must go to korean class tonight, has a headache from hell, kids are driving her crazy, has almost lost her voice again, and also had her co-workers forget to tell her yesterday was a holiday Embarassed

(ok I admit that coming to school and finding out there is a holiday is way better than lying in bed sleeping and finding out that it isn't).

Right I'm done moaning. Please add your my day sucks stories.

it's when you're sick away from home that things really get on top of you- I reckon even Arnold Schwazenegger misses his mum when he's ill.

YOU POOR THING!! Crying or Very sad

It is always harsh having a bad day here when you are isolated from the old comforts you rely on at home to make you feel better...

so, it's not much but here is a big hug *SQUEEZE* for you...get through your day. Do what you have to do. And then go home, change into your most comfortable PJs, make yourself a cup of tea and snuggle under your blankets. Very Happy

...and take comfort in knowing that tomorrow is Saturday.... Wink

Today: Ex-girlfriend wakes me up to *beep* at me for a solid half an hour. Hangs up on me in a fury. I walk to work with a tan dress shirt and a bunk umbrella. Halfway to work, my shirt is brown from rainwater and I start to feel a cold coming on. Almost at work, a truck races through a giant puddle, half of which lands on my pants. I get to work and my boss yells at me for not opening a bank account (which I did last week, but through her yelping I cant fit in a word edgewise). Then I eat some noodles to help my cold and she comes back in and yells at me for eating noodles everyday (her husband says they're bad for your oils. WTF?????) Ex-girlfriend calls back just so she can hang up on me. In class, I play the "where's the teacher?" game. "Ha, Ha, teacher's under the table!" Under the table, I think I slip a disk and I have to hunchback it back to the office. On the way back from work the bus driver yells at me for something about 'cigarettes and health.' Fine, fine, but I don't smoke. Anyway, thanks for your time. I'm gonna go drink until my back heals.

I try my best to see those days as an opportunity. (In chinese, as you probably know, the words crisis and opportunity are closely related).
Anybody can get up and do a good job when they're fit and healthy. But when you're sick, man that's an opportunity to show people you've got some real character.
I'll either try to do that, or curl up in front of the TV with a 2 pound bag of potato chips. Wink

Those kind of days are a great reason to build up a close and caring relationship with your students.

I was on Accutane for almost a year, and it made me SO sick! In my last class of the day, there was a girl who on a really bad day would tell me to put my head down and the kids would take care of themselves for the class. And they really did, making up their own reading and writing assignments.

I feel for you! I hope you seel better soon!

Got punched in the back of the ear by this old homeless guy in Myeong-dong 'cause I wouldn't give him money...

...now that the adrenaline has run its course and I've taken something for the massive headache, I wonder why I didn't clean his clock in return.... Sad

I didn't know they had beggars in Korea until yesterday when a guy asked the teacher I was walking with for W1000. Still, at least when the kids here say Hello, (he, he, he) they don't then ask you for 5 pesos.

Every day here is a little sad because my wife and kids are on the other side of the world, but apart from that nothing gets me down (yet).
