When pressed by those who knew more on the subject Itaewonguy has expanded his reasoning. However, when asked if Thai girls needed a visa to come here by someone who is trying to have one visit him;

Itaewonguy said with authority

yeah she needs a visa!

Other than trying to find some wiggle room as he paints himself into a corner where exactly is it posted where he says" Sorry, I didn't really know what I was talking about"?

Well, we'll know to treat his posts with a little doubt at least.

Itaewonguy has some solid stuff though.

I have heard the same with marriage licenses in Europe and N.America when it comes to Thai girls. If they get a sense she is a bar girl.. the visa is much more difficult and problematic!!

If she is a member of the upper classes.. it becomes signifantly easier all the way around.

Not so sure how it works in Korea though.. but many European and North American Embassies make it extremely problematic by looking a bit into the girls background, funds, recent employment history, rental or house buying history, almost everything.. could be moreso a Western thing however. But potentially could apply to Korea in that regards to that as well.

Sorry dont have any solid info on Thai and tourist visas for Korea however. On the plus side, I knew a gay Canadian who bought a ticket for his gay Thai boyfriend and was able to do it without a problem. But Im not sure about the visa situation with that.

OP,

I don't know for Thailand, but when my fiance, who is Indonesian, visited me in Korea this year, we had to jump through a series of hoops to satisfy the dept of immigration. First, she needed a bank draft stating she had $6000 Aus in the bank. She also needed a letter of invitation from me and a letter from my boss saying that I was gainfully employed. Finally, I had to fax off my contract, passport page and visa. By contrast, she got a visa from the Japanese embassy, same day, with no hassles. And they wonder why nobody wants to come to the dump of a place, sheesh!

Cheers

Jaga

I went to Korea few months ago for few weeks. It's my first time to travel abroad too. I checked on website before I went there. For Thai people, we can get 3-month tourist visa on arrival. Therefore, she will be fine if she just has her passport as I did. Also, the visa should not be expired in next 6 months.

Anyway, you have to tell her to be alert when the flight attendants give some paper to all passengers on plane. I missed that paper as I look similar to Korean, and they thought I didnt need it. Also, I forgot to ask them what the paper is too as I was half awake and half sleep. That is the visa paper we hv to fill in and submit to the immigration. Anyway, I got to waste some time to look for one and fill it later at the airport. Afterthat, we got to be in queue in order to summit that visa paper.

First, they will check the return ticket. Then, they will ask the reason why we come to korea. I just said,, for taking holiday. Also, she should fill the name and address of a person she has known in Korea. That will be enough for her to get everything done.

Well, she may hv to be in long queue, and go to get her luggage later. That may take half an hour, so the person who has to wait for her outside should not be panic. She will be fine. For me, I got to waste time at lost&found section cos I missed the early flight which my luggages were sent to Korea earlier. Anyway, everything went fine. Even the first day of my alone travel frustrated me a bit, I enjoyed the rest of my time in Korea.

ohh,, I forgot to tell that ATM card doesnt work over there. I think their bank system can't link to Thai bank yet. She should carry some dollars or baht with her if she would like to use cash. Anway, the visa card works fine.

Hope this is helpful.
Good Luck to her,,and hope she will enjoy her trip.
