Anyone know of a place in Seoul where you can swing dance? I'm thinking some clubs might have it on certain nights or universities might hold swing dances occasionally. Swing dancing hasn't been popular in the States for several years now, but I'm guessing Koreans might not know that. In any case, it's fun and I want to do it here. Any leads?

(Disco would be OK, too. I guess my feet are caught in a time warp).

Swing dancing is cool. I wish I were better at it. I had to study it in school. At the time I pretended to hate it but inside I liked it. If I could really swing I would like to join you in your search for a happing joint. If you find one, let us know.

It's not quite the same thing, but salsa dancing is still pretty big here. Here's a list of places in Seoul:http://www.eslcafe.com/forums/korea/viewtopic.php?t=26635&highlight=salsa+dancing

I found this site with a calendar of swing events in Seoul, but it hasn't been updated for a really long time. A lot of the links are broken. Anyone know if any of these places still do swing, and how much of a crowd they draw?

If you really want to you can swing in Seoul everyday. But most happening nights are Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. As I check on regular basis with club owners I will updating this page.

To see a map to a particular location (courtesy of Alex "HepCat" Nah), click on the name of the club below.

Monday
Swing Bar is open, but not much going on. MMM's (Maxim's Martini Mondays) provides a great alternative with a few martinis and some dancing in a spacious living room.

Tuesday
Club Fiesta is swinging and hopping near Konguk University. Pretty slick floor.

Wednesday
Boogie Woogie really swings today. Azrael is the DJ and she actually announces what she plays. Good for education.

Thursday
Lindy night at Swing Bar. Fiesta is also open for swing.

Friday
Swing Bar , the original swing hangout in Seoul, is usually packed today. The most happening place to go as most of the best swingers are there.

Saturday
Large part of the crowd moves to Hella Swing, though Swing Bar is still hopping. Fiesta is also open, but never been there on a Saturday.

Sunday
Practice night at Swing Bar. Anyone is welcome, mixed music. Fiesta is also open for swing.

rindyhop?!?! Maybe, Lindy Hop was intended?

C is interested in swing lessons as well; usually, the best swing dancers I have seen are connected to the military, but I will look round & seee what I can dig up for you.

Regards,

G.
