I'm guessing it was deleted by Kwangjuchicken himself.
A lot of the responses on this thread were extremely inappropriate.
It probably took a lot of guts to post the story in the first place. I was once attacked by someone (also in Korea), and even though I know I should share my experience to help others, I seriously don't want to be questioned in the manner that he was here.
If you haven't been in that kind of situation yourself, you have no right to say you would have handled it differently. And none of us have been in EXACTLY that same situation before.
He was only posting it to remind other people that there are bad people in Korea too.
Yeah, I know I also questioned him. I asked if he was male or female. It was a stupid question and beside the point and I'm sorry I asked it. |

| I don't think most of the people who asked questions were trying to be inappropriate or offensive or what not. At least I wasn't, anyway. There was a story posted on the internet that had a huge chunk of it missing, and I think a lot of us were just wondering what that missing piece was. That's where my response came from, anyway. |

Australia has got to be the worst place for accepting lifts from strangers!! especially away from the main centers. I hitchiked several times there, and the stories I could tell you, believe me, would make you wince!!. Just a small sample: Two guys picked me up and wanted me to help them in a break in they had planned that night- told me all about this place they'd been watching etc and what they were going to take; another guy got drunk at the wheel and I had to continue driving when he nodded of at the wheel! another guy went on about his knife collection, and so on and on.
NB, with the vast distances in Australia and the time it can take to get an actual lift, you can't always bail out of every ride you get, or you'd end up in the middle of nowhere with heat exhaustion.
But I tell you this: Australia has an incredibly high strike rate of psychos and wierdo degenerates!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

That was that place where that psycho was picking up hitchhikers and using them for target practise back on his ranch. |

Several years back at about 4 am I was driving in a very isolated rural area in Australia. I saw a man standing near the undergrowth at the edge of the road. Even though it was very cold at the time he was wearing light clothing which made me a little suspicious. Also there was no vehicle in sight - this also made me suspicious as no one walks in that area.
I didn't want to ignore him as he may have been in genuine need of help. So I locked the doors and slowed down but kept my foot on the accelerator pedal. He said he wanted a lift back in the direction I had just come from.
When I looked closely I saw he was wearing khaki tousers and short sleeved shirt. This may, or may not, have been a prison uniform. I considered the possibility that he was an escapee so I made an excuse about being in a hurry and left.
About 15 km down the road I found a public phone and called the nearest police. They promised to look into it. When I returned to that district a few days later I stopped at the police station and asked what had happened. Apparently, when a police car got to the location he had gone.
Now I will never know if he was ok or an escaped axe murderer. I guess it's better to be safe than sorry. |

Apparently Australia has a very high rate of mental disorders away from the main cities...due to the isolation people live in- you're talking people who only interract with one or two other people every day for years on end and a trip to the local bar to socialise is a several hours drive away. Of course they pick up hitchhikers, its someone to talk to- and show your knife collection to or espouse your theories of alien conspiracy and world domination to.
be careful out there. Another time I actually punched a guy who picked me up and jumped out of the car at the traffic lights, because he put his hand on my knee. |

That's one person who has made a broad sweeping statement with nothing to back it up and another who has simply agreed with it. I could say the same things about people from other countries. For example, I could say that there seems to be "an incredibly high rate of psychos and wierdo degenerate Americans in Korea". But, I won't, because I have not done a proper survey.
Shortskirt_longjacket and Rapier, have either of you done a proper survey ??? Do you have anything to back up your statements ?
And yes, I am Australian. |
