Sorry, PM - just starting to get leads on Halloween. It is weird timing this year - that Friday will be Club Night (usually the last 'good' one, as November is hella cold & Dec everyone is gone); Sat is a big '?' and Sunday is Haloween proper - unlike last year! Crying or Very sad

As I hear stuff, I'll let you know, but it probably deserves it's own thread.

SJ & TC: let's make a deal: I'll give you the low on No Boundaries, if you all can clue me on M place. I could probably figure it out eventually, but too many irons in the fire right now.

DLK - that would suck about the food, but as long as they are still doing the 4 masseusse-for-2-people, bottle of wine, 2-hour deal, din-din can wait!

Regards,

G.

I suspect there must also be places in Gang-nam/Ap-gu area, as well . . .

Clue : post about it here and it ain't a secret anymore.

trevorcollins, my memory is that you agreed to a vow of silence about the place. The oath did not involve blood, sure, but it was made under the assumption that you are a gentleman and a scholar. Do not force me to send assassins to your house in the dead of night.

It's a cool place, and very small, besides not being easy to find. And the smallness is why it ought not be publicized on widely-read board like this. Heck not even sure it's still there, been almost a year now since I've been. Best if you go there with someone who has been before.

Better still to find another place just as small and quiet ... and don't tell anyone about it later.

Cool

The M bar is Maeum. .

Good luck finding it or even asking random people for directions. Some nights I couldn't even find it. I think its some kind of temporal-spatial anomaly that only appears if you deserve to go there.

Haven't been there in awhile though, so it might be gone.

For other chill-out stuff, there is a semi-regular "rave-esque" party thats usually held in Hongdae called Nirvana. They had one last weekend, you had to take your shoes off, and they had a bunch of hammocks strung up, cushions, serving fruit and juice as well as booze. Playing reggae and other laid-back stuff. They change the theme though... awhile back it was Psytrance and Goa with some crappy PoMo arthouse performances thrown in between sets.

Bawbster, you, of all people , should know I am Not a Man to Be Deterred.

I had 3 other PMs, and 3 other outsiders clue me in. So, I got that one down. Funny thing was, that area was really popular around 6 years ago, and died off - sloowwwllyy seems to be coming back.

For Nirvana, I think they are also on the flighty, e-mail/handphone invite list.

I agree that some bars should be open, and some are best kept quiet - esp. this kind of places. If we can come up with enough places, though, I think there is no real harm.

Regards,

G.

this is the thread i've been looking for. i am seeking an alternative to the mega-club atmospere. i've only been here for 3 months but i want to find the equivalent to toronto's green room..

anymore?

I haven't been to the green room for about 7 years, but we used to have live Irish Traditional Music there on Tuesdays & Thursdays (slow jam). I used to LOVE their bodum coffee. Nice & strong! Well, you can get that at the Soho Bar in Itaewon once per month. Sunday, Oct. 17th at 7pm there wil Irish trad at the Soho commencing at 7pm. Bring your instruments and join the circle!

i think its stupid to keep good places a secret. how will they possibly stay in business?

anyway, there are some cool events in seoul on a regular basis. the yoga place in hongdae periodically hosts chill events.

PP, I understand and sympathize with your view, but my view has changed over the years. Mostly, from travelling, not clubbing.

Sorry, but after finding on my own, or being shown some really great, wonderful, cool things, and then helping 'get the word out' some people and places are changed for the worse, over time.

I have way too many examples, and it just depresses me. Usually, places like that do just fine on their own.

(PP, if you want any kind of info, you & I are fine - just pm me).

Some places - heck, most! - I am happy to share. But some things are best kept between close friends.

For Den & Mi-hwa's going away,we did 3 Alleys and then over to Bar Nana for the late -night closer. Guest appearances included Big Bill Beckerson, FierceInvalid, a verrryy well lit-up Zed, ReedTea, Harpeau, etc. Festive time!

(We missed Eammon, and unsure where TigerBeer even is at these dayz? Feel esp. bad about missing these 2, for while at 3 Alley, we saw what had to be one of the 3 hottest Thai girls I have ever laid I's on . . .)

Christina:ok, not only is she beautiful, but her waist is like a size 2, her but a heart-shaped size 4, and her boobs are like a gravity-defying size 16!

Nana: The actual place is small, groovy, loungy - def. like the other places we have described above - 'speakeasy-ish.'

Besides a nice mix of people, I also had the pleasure of seeing Meagan, the girl who ate pancakes out of my hand at the beach party at An-myon

C agrees- she is a hottie, and we should definitely stock in some pancake mix & syrup at our place from now on . . .
