Peoples,

I've been in Indonesia now for 6 weeks and am looking for a job for when I return in early november. I have been sending on average 3-4 applications a day and seldom hear back from recruiters and advertisers. The ones who do reply often tell me that being non North American doesn't help. Fair enough. Are there any non NA types out there who have used a recruiter who has done the business for them, ie got them a job? If so I would appreciate if you could let me know who you used so I may contact them. Thanks in advance.

Honestly, if they are telling you that, then that means that your photo is humdrum.

Get a professional headshot and/or bodyshot done of you. Something along the lines of what you would expect to send an agent in Hollywood.

A kickass picture(s) trumps any perceived shortcomings in this racket, and you will hear a lot less excuses about your nationality. Unless you are from a non-E2 eligible country.

I've seen the damndest looking people from all sorts of backgrounds get a ton of attention from schools, because of the great photo.

Go way over the top and spare no expense. Send 3-4 photos of yourself. With kids. With you laughing. With you in professional attire. Your photo is everything.

The photo I have sent is by no means humdrum. Its neat, clean and very similar to the one I sent when I got hired the first time around. Still, thanks for the advice, but can anyone recommend a recruiter?

Cheers
