I've noticed in the last couple days my download speeds on Megapass have slowed a lot. Speed tests reveal about 115 kbps down and over 500 kbps up. Those numbers should, if anything, be reversed. I used to get 500 down no problem.

I've got a firewall and a virus scanner, so I'm pretty sure nothing has been installed on my system that's sucking up my bandwidth. When I'm not loading pages I see no vast amount of uploading/downloading activity going on.

I've tested speeds too with a local Korean FTP site, so I'm pretty sure its not "weather" jumping from Korea to the world pipe.

I'm in Nowon. Anyone else notice a slow down?

Yeah, I have been noticing that frequently as well. Sometimes it's so bad that my connection completely cuts out. I heard they were cutting down bandwidth across the board, but never anticipated to actually be happening. Don't know if it was just a rumour or not. Confused

Whoa. I called Megapass' English support line. I think it was something like 100 then 2. Anyway, I got a real human who speaks English within 15 seconds. She walked me through some clueless newbie checks and then verified my download speeds were hovering just above 56k modem speeds.

"We can have a technician come out there today between 3 and 5 pm." It was 2 pm when I called. He came at 3:30 pm. He clicked a couple things on some PDA. And my speed was back to normal.

Impressive. No Silicon Sally Hell. Support person who not only spoke better English than most support people in North America, but she didn't blame it on another vendor. And a truck roll that day and at my door faster than you can sometimes get a pizza. Why can't all of Korea or North America be like this?
