|

Downloaded the latest Overnet/eDonkey, which is now simply compiled all into eDonkey, and installed it. Even though I unselected all extra options, got some major advertisement program(s) installed with it. Now when you turn on your computer, at random times, computer downloads full length video clips and the Windows Media Player pops up, plays the clips in a new WMP skin, and furthermore tried hitting the "x" button to stop it and either it wouldn't stop, or it would and then pop right back up 2 seconds later.
AdawareSE sure found alot of stuff on my comp because of it. Had to totally uninstall eDonkey as well as do Adaware scan and sweep.
Any recs on doing a better install next time, or a better version?
Fortunately, I do have a really old version of Overnet on another hard drive, which I can semi-use (get some error messages I have to click out of alot), and I might not be getting access to all files available with it perhaps (?). Thanks. |

Rule number one: never download from third party sites. Downloads.com, CNET, and others are notorious for adding a lot of crap to their downloads like spyware, adware, popups, etc.
Download directly from the eDonkey2000 maker's site here . |

| Just to spite them, download spyware removal software from E-donkey and serial numbers and remove the crap. That'll show 'em who's who. |
