Only a handful of schools are actually going to care about what your degree is in. This makes baby Jesus cry because I've got an English degree that is of course good for nothing and also doesn't give me any special priviledges over here.

Don't know about Uni's but I defintly know that some public schools are concerned with looks and yes, they like the blonde hair and blue eyes as much as their hogwon counterparts.

Very true. My school last year had a pretty handsome guy working for them when I came in. Everybody loved him; he hated the place and had the fakest friendly attitude at times. Didn't matter, though, because the girls loved him!

I've got an education degree and a CELTA.

Doesn't make any odds.

Still get the same money as any other person with any degree.

I encourage kiwis everywhere to hide their accent, ancestry and their straight family trees.

I always fake an American accent in interviews. I've had a number of interviewers comment on how pleasantly surprised they were by that.
I've also had a number of fellow Aussies threaten to kick my arse if I keep doing it. Wink
