i use vlc, do the vids you download have subtitles?
if it does, just go to subtitles and click on track1, its usually stuck on disable. |

| Are you using real DVDs or rips? Rips often have all of the subs stripped out of them. For real DVDs, go into the "play" menu in WMP and select the subs from there. |

I use my DVD player for the DVD's...
Im downloading the subtitle files seperately, but when I use vlc they come up as boxes. I also read on the VLC board that no-one on their team speaks Korean, so they cant test their current system in terms of Korean subtitles. |

| I recently found "Gom Player" ( ÷̾), which is an excellent application that looks similar to WinAmp but all in Korean. It has a button in the middle of the console which you can click and it will find and apply, from the internet, subtitles for any movie you are playing. It is a very nifty player and great for downloaded movies. I don't know about playing DVD's on it but as far as that goes, VideoLan, WMP, Intervideo WinDVD player and a lot of others do a mighty fine job of playing DVD's. |

So what is he talking about then? Playing MP3s with subtitles? Excuse my quantum leap in assuming he is talking about DVDs or SVCDs, which one would enable the subtitles in the same way. If he is talking about .avi files, well, there may be no way to have subs....I assumed the OP knew this. Now Jaz has come up with a pretty cool solution though.
Pretty cool how you can see into the void of the OP's exclusions....saves you from embarassing situations like the one I'm in now. |

For avi's, you just have to find the sub file that corresponds exactly to the avi file that you have downloaded. I have used several sites in the past to find subs but no more, Gom Player will find the exact sub file automatically for pretty much any avi download. It's great! |

It's called reading comprehension.
See this part?

Now, I don't know about you, but I don't recall ever having to enable the actual subtitle FILE when watching a dvd, but I do recall having to do that while watching divx or xvids upon occasion. |

| If you want the player, download v. 1.7.2 here. If you aren't great with Korean, get a friend to help you install because the program asks you a lot of configuration questions in its startup wizard. |

Try this site, I have usually been successful there. You can then use Gom Player or VideoLan to apply them. |
