Here's a particular situation. Did an interview at a school which a recruiter simply called me up and told me how to get there (after I'd sent them my resume). Never even met the recruiter at all, only 1 or 2 phone calls. I don't have a problem with it.

Anyways found my way there and introduced myself, had the interview. At the interview, the school owner said to me that if we decide for me to work there, that he doesn't want to talk to the recruiter any longer and that he would just hire me directly. He said he was unsatisfied with the recruiter, i.e. the recruiter never even showed up nor helped out on anything other than relaying phone numbers. Now yes I understand that the director should pay something, however I really couldn't care less about either one of them.

Before you answer please hear me out, not looking for moral reasoning nor that stuff. Simply wonder if anyone actually knows strictly for my situation as a teacher (and/or experienced it), is there any *danger* that I could be in if I agreed to never call up the recruiter again and just let the school owner hire me? In otherwords if I just signed up directly with the school? Can't think of any now but you know how a director just might want to do something to get a leg up on a teacher (legal tangling?).

There is no danger to you whatsoever-unless the owner agreed specifically to go through said recruiter, and has to pay protection money Soprano-style.

You have no obligation to the recruiter, only the school, and that is only if they signed a contract with him.

You ave no problems, especially if the recruiter is not in possession of anything of yours, eg. degree certificate etc.

Well, there's no reason to go directly through the recruiter now, but it sounds like the director is gonna screw the guy out of a recruiting fee, and I'd be asking if I want to work for a guy that'll do that kind of underhanded thing so easily.

Also, you should ask that your starting salary be bumped up 100-200 thousand won per month, in lieu of them having to pay a recruiting fee.

Exactly. IF your director is going to screw over a Korean, imagine what he/she will do when they no longer need you.

A recruiter is good for helping you out of some jams with the school in some cases. My last recruiter helped me get paid my return airfare. The school didnt think they should pay since I wasn't going back home. No problem: I told the recruiter and a week later the cash was in my account.

Make a deal with the recruiter. You get half his fee up front.

Koreans do this all the time. I once worked for a tutoring company in the US, and my Korean students/parents consistently wanted to quit with the company and hire me directly.
