You have probably heard this Korean equivalent of "Eeny Meeny Miney Mo":
īݶ ִ

  ֻ ¾
 ôôڻ
˾Ƹ
Coca-Cola is delicious.
If it is delicious, you drink more.
If you drink more, your stomach hurts.
If your stomach hurts, you go to the hospital.
If you go to the hospital, you get a shot.
Ding dong, dang dong, the doctor comes in fast.
Make a guess.
If you like logic problems, you can make a hypothetical syllogism out of this.
delicious implies more (d ==> m)
more implies stomachache (m ==> s)
stomachache implies hospital (s ==> h)
hospital implies vaccination (h ==> v)
Therefore, delicious implies vaccination (d ==> v)

I think it tastes quite bad.
I've never heard this song by my students and my korean is good enough to understand if that was being sung.
When have you heard it Tomato??? |

I used to hear sometimes when I taught kids, but that's because I used "Eeenie Meanie Miney Mo" all the time to pick kids to do things they didn't want to do. The first time I'd do it, they'd be bewildered, and then try to teach me the Korean version.
I never quite picked it up, though. |

Thanks a bunch. I have a new intro for when we start the zero conditional soon.
I admire your study of Korean. Please keep posting these type of things. |

Heard it once or twice. Probably a better social commentary than enne meanee.
By the way he means ִ not ִ or ִ. Damn typos. |

I could have gone one step further.
The first line establishes the premise that Coca-Cola is delicious.
(Just Because didn't, but this poem did.)
We have all the premises we need for a modus ponens operation:
delicious implies vaccination (d ==> v)
delicious is true (d)
Therefore, vaccination is true (v)
Thanks, Sliver, I corrected that. |
