| I'd just like to thank Posco's trumpet for his sensitive and thoughtful concern and information, and his honesty about something that is quite personal somewhat of a "touchy topic" ... I have had an alcoholic uncle who drank himself into the ground for 15years and swore black and blue he didn't have a problem. it's a scarey thing to not be able to help your loved ones. Finally after four trips to the hospital and near death experiences with liver failure he admitted his problem and went clean. It's only been 4 months and we ( the family ) are not totally convinced he will stick to it, as part of his problem involed massive lying as well. What is scarey is that doctors have said quite clearly that if he drinks again he will die, no if's or buts. And they're not just trying to scare him, the guy only has ten% of his liver still functioning. So thankyou Posco ... |

After too many bottles of soju, I woke up in a park that I didn't know in Incheon in the middle of the night in a pool of vomit. I walk for about 30 minutes before I find a landmark I recognise.
I wake up this morning. There's vomit in my hair. My head has a large bump on the side of it. And I still feel sick.
I'm not drinking ever again.

Yeah it's astounding the results that come up when you type "pool of vomit" and "passed out drunk in a park" into the search engine.
In any case I debated waiting 14 months to launch some witty comeback to your reply, but decided to be benevolent and churn out some crap now. |

| Plenty of well-intentioned advice on this thread, but no one has addressed the core issue, and that is, stay the hell away from SOJU! This cheap paint-thinner is responsible for most of Korea's dysfunctionality. No self-respecting booze-hound should let that stuff cross his(or her) lips. Stick with beer or wine or tequila, for that matter. I put the cap on soju three years ago, although I still keep a bottle around the house for removing stains from clothing. |

I have to agree. The only time I was ever thrown up on, was when at my friends company party the assistent manager got happy with the shots and ended up passing out. It was decided that I would be the one to carry her on my back out to a taxi, but when they got her up and onto me, she yacked all down my shirt. |

It does give the worst hangovers. My friend said it's because soju is only distilled once, compared to 3-4 times for most other booze. Therefore it's not pure and it's harder for your liver to process.
