Does anyone else seem to have this problem? When I first came to Korea, my face broke out like I was in high school, but I attributed that to the air pollution. It's gone away, but now I'm getting so many white hairs, and purple bags under my eyes...I don't go out drinking anymore, I get plenty of sleep and exercise, I don't think my job is too stressful, yet still....
And the funny thing is that I went to the Philippinesand Thailand and Bali for a vacation for 3 weeks, and while I was there, the bags under my eyes disappeared, and it actually seemed like I had less white hairs popping up here and there. Then, after coming back to Korea, two weeks later, everything was back...
Just wondering if anyone has experienced this because sometimes when I look in the mirror in the morning, my self-esteem gets a shot of insecurity..
thanks |

Just be sure to drink at least 2 litres of mineral water every day, works wonders. And don't let the stress of being and working here get to you! Make an effort to smile as you walk into work every day! |

Sounds like you have a bad case of stress my man.
Follow Rapier's advice and add this to the recipe:
1) Go to the public baths daily. There must be one in your neighborhood. Take your time in there, relax, use the sauna and hot and cold pools.
2) Once a week go to a spa or hotspring and spend the morning there.
3) Take trips inside Korea, visit the country side a bit
4) Try to chill man. |

SW, if that is what getting old looks like, we should ALL be so lucky!!!
Regards,
G.
PS ~ as always, I would throw in a good hobby, gym membership (a lot of the good ones have a sauna/bathhouse, as well), and watching your diet, and getting a vitamin/mineral supplement daily, as well.
No, Bacchus-F does NOT count. |

Of course not, the second or third ingredient is nicotine, and a little down is Caffeine. yeah that is healthy, so we give it to kids in Korea. |

Of all my amazing strenghts, my incredible adventures, my exotic destinations, my heart-thumping getaways, and my arsenal of martial-arts and pro-wrestling moves, nothing, but NOTHING, impresses my kids as much as the fact I can sleep in a closed room with an air-con on.
I think I may just make up my own special Korean-edition 'No Fear' shirt, with a pic of abig-ol Samsung room unit towering over my bed on it.

spicy food and lot of alcohol can cause the face to brake out if you are senitive to that stuff, some are some aren't. Also the air is pretty dirty so wash you face well too. I would have to say that exercizing is the best thing you can do to keep your face young here, that and good sleep. |

huck,
My husband experienced the similiar problems on much more serious scale, when he was in Korea. One day his eyes got all puffy, his voice became hoarse, before it was completely gone, he had terrible time breathing and his body was covered with red rashes. Terrified, I took him to an emergency room, where a doctor gave him a shot of allergy reliever (I forgot the name). Fortunately, his allergy-like symptoms alleviated a little bit, after we arrived in a hospital, but it was a night from hell.
After he came back to Canada, he saw a number of allergy specialists, but they could not trace what a root cause of his problem was. Canadians doctors said the bags under his eyes is the body fat, but they didn't explain what caused the body fat to form the bags.
Some precautions for you:
- drink a lot of water, especially in summer
- Avoid too much exposure to sun in summer: you will feel more tired and the symptoms might get aggrevated.
- See a doctor to see if they have any idea what is causing it. |

I did notice that a number of older ladies and gents on the subways in Seoul have noticeable bag formations under their eyes. |

Okay, now this IS totally unrelated....but....I'm FEMALE. |
LOL! I was going to direct Mr. Moose to Rike's Guide to Birth Control, or Rike's Guide to Dating Korean Guys (all very entertaining, by the way - I know you don't like 'em but you should be proud of those articles) to see if he could put it all together himself... |

She doesn't know what you look like (does she?). You can just point to Bobster and say, "That's Zyzyfer. I think you have some issues with him." Then quietly head to the bar. |
