Hi,

First Problem:
Have been watching downloaded stuff with no problems until now... Now the audio is running at normal speed, but the visual is going slower.

Tried dowloading the Mega Codec Pack, just assumed it was the codec - no joy.

Tried running a virus check, detected and deleted a few, but still no joy...

Any suggestions?

Second Problem:
Have been using both emule and bit torrent to download stuff. Emule is fine, but now whenever I click on a link in Suprnova, I get a message that Explorer has encountered a problem and it shuts down???

WTF?!

Help!!!

OK don't know how to do that token ring thing, could you explain pls.

For info I just ran a network diagnostics and found that modems and network adapters all PASSED.

However, the items in the internet service are NOT CONFIGURED.

i have trouble with audio going faster than video too sometimes. I find different programs deal with this better than others.

I haven't had this problem with Quick Time. Only trouble is Quick Time doesn't play many different file types.

OK. Downloaded Firefox and can now download from suprnova, but still can't play anything without the visual being slower than the sound...

Quicktime was no use coz it doesn't read any of my downloads coz they are all avi's

Try VideoLan or Intervideo WinDVD player which comes bundled with the Interplay player. These are the programs that I use and they work well 99% of the time. You could also try BSplayer which is bundled with Ace Mega.

If it's a processor speed issue, this codec pack should help as it's considerably more efficient for whatever magical reasons.

Though on machines I've used it on, it was for machines where the video simply was dropping frames because they weren't being processed fast enough and not falling behind in being processed.

Hmmm..

Tried bs player already, no joy. Will try VideoLan and the other one just in case.

Already have ffd installed if the icon is 2 big FF's...

Am gonna free up some memory space tonight to see if that helps... Could be that the computer is low spec, but worked fine until past few days, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Have you brought up the task manager to see if another process has crashed and is consuming CPU cycles?

Now you come to mention it, I remember the guy who connected me up for internet said that the CPU was cr*p...

oh yeah demo it is a 256 you're right!

another thing you could try is disconnecting from the net when you watch if you are on broadband as this can consume resources

basically though, you might just find you don't have what it takes. In the end I could do nothing about it and it was the only show in many many that ever gave me this issue.

Gord, sorry but could you explain why you suggested changing to a token ring network typology?

As far (I almost wrote fart by mistake hehehe) as that is concerned it has nothing to do with a stand alone system. Token ring only works well if you actually have a network. (And is basically obsolete these days due to redundancy)

Just my 2 cents, oh and Fiftyfofum, get a faster CPU! That should solve matters nicely.
