Why should she have to 'suck it up.' Quite the mentality you slaves have!! Let the boss 'suck it up' for a change.

It depends on when these extra hours are scheduled. If you are already teaching 6 classes a day there is no reason that you should have to teach more.

If you agree to do it, for the sake of keeping peace with your boss, that's up to you, but you can refuse to do it if you so desire.

I know it's hard, but just politely say no, and keep saying no until they get the idea. Don't argue, don't make a fuss, just say no.

Tell them if they don't like it they can find another teacher.

Yes, I have done this at my last job and it did work for me.

The problem is, if you give him an inch, he'll take a mile.

First it is the extra hours, then it's Saturday classes, then it's late pay....

Seoulmon's not so good opinion about Korean bosses:
Korean bosses make money on working their employees to the bone instead of being more efficient. At our school we have lame meetings that break up peoples days and add an extra work hour to your shift. The meatings are lame but the boss doesn't care. She doesn't run them and they're free.

Seoulmon's suggestion:
I wouldn't give the boss a do or die choice. Tell the boss you'll work the extra hours if he gives 1,500 won more per hour. Tell him that it's a favor you're wiling even though it is outside the contract.
