Hello. I arrived in Korea last thursday and I'm hoping to find some other ESL teachers in my area. I'm at a small school in Gijang. Gijang is a more "rural" area in Busan, and I'm not exaggerating when I say I think I'm the only foreigner here. Haeundae is the closest city, so if anyone near there is interested in showing me the ropes, I'd be stoked. I'm not up for the whole drink til you puke social scene, but a little teacher support network and a taste of the nightlife would be great. I'm 23. I have a bachelor of Art Education, and so far I'm really happy to be here. Any tips about cool places in this area, or how to successfully navigate myself around when I speak minimal Korean, would be welcome. Thanks!

The new teacher, first time in Korea and teaching, at the haggie is 23. He's blonde, blue-eyed, very fit, handsome. He's smart and funny. He's been at this school in Ulsan I work at two weeks now. Not only that he likes to read between classes for the 5-7 minutes. The last two days he has been reading Sigmund Freud's 'The Anatomy of Dreams'. If you'd like I'll deliver him. I've given him a city tour on the back of my 750cc motorbike. So he's used to riding on the back of the bike. Smile Have to consult with him about his matter. He's looking serious though, must be the Freud. Drinks a fair amount on the weekend though, and plays rugby. IF you're over-serious from reading Freud that would be a wonderful coincidence. Smile

wow. smart, funny, blonde hair, blue eyes, fit, AND handsome! I'm sure we could make beautiful children, but I'm not looking for a love connection. Thanks for the offer anyhow. Smile

it takes a little while, at least it did for me..

me and my partner are the only foreigners at my school. i have him, so at least i'm not bored outta my skull. but i have been working quite hard the last 3 months to make some nice girlfriends.. i recommend finding out where the foreigners go, and don't be afraid to talk to them - if they're not interested in befriending a newbie, move to the next prospect. eventually, you'll find someone in your predicament with similar interests.

welcome, and good luck!
