Although my colleagues and I signed a contract with my university in August 2004 that is good till 8/31/05, our director is pressuring us to sign a new contract. This contract is slanted in favor of the school.

Where do we go for legal advice? Do we need advice since we did sign one contract already. It's the same as the one we used last year.

Now she says the first one was just for immigration. That sounds odd. Wouldn't immigration want the REAL contract anyway?

Three of us have no intention of signing it, yet now she's hounding us.

Is it normal to have to sign a second contract?

No. She is full of B.S. You cannot be forced to sign a new contract. Just tell her no, and if she persists, threaten to contact the labor board.

She is trying to get some extra work out of you that she probably should have thought of before.

Tell her that if the contract is to be resigned you want to put a few things in it as well...more money, more holidays, less hours...etc.

If you dont want to sign a new contract....DONT!

A past school tried to get me to do this so they could cheat on health insurance costs.

I laughed and said, "No way! I won't sign a new contract now!"

They forged it.

Don't sign a new contract. Tell her no, while squeezing out the reason why. Koreans aren't used to underlings questioning why they are doing something. It really drives them nuts.
