Is it a sport?

I hate it, can't stand it.....

Had to watch two female teachers playing it at the student gym last night as I worked out.

They make it look like it requires a lot of strength....all the while, each time they hit, there are saying something like "Usssssshhhhhhhaaaaaaaahhhh." WTF??

It's not tennis, and I barely work up a sweat playing it.....it stinks in my opinion.....stupid little balls....

It's probably not sooooo much stupider than working out.

I love it, and I kick ass. When you get good you can give the ball a huge whack and still get in on the table with spin, so it does become a work out. I get a full sweat on playing decent people at table tennis. And, there are plenty of them in this country to practice with ... Razz

Table tennis is a fun game. I find it odd that you see no similarities between tennis and table tennis... I find them both remarkably similar and the strokes as well. But I never was one to use a paddle with hardly any handle and upside down. I didn't have to anyway, as could be just as effective using regular tennis grip styles. What I loved about the game, was that at times I could be so zoned into the ball, that despite it coming at me incredibly fast, my reflexes could still catch up to the ball. Kind of like typing on the computer when you are good at it.

ping-pong, as i have always known it, is quite fun once you become good enough to play at a fast pace. i'd choose ping-pong anyday over most of the 'sports' in the olympics.

Table tennis is ok on a big table, but those little arcade ones freak me out. I have a morbid fear of all minature versions of games even travel scrabble.

The only time I ever build up a sweat playing table tennis is running after the ball before it goes under someones chair, as it rolls away from me as I lose another game.

How many points do you play up to in a game of ping-pong? At my house, you played up until the time Dad wanted to park the car in the garage. We also used to resort to physical violence over who got the good paddle, and who had to play with the crap one. Good times.

Manlyboy as an owner of table tennis bats you may be able to answer this for me. How come with all tables you get one good bat and one with the rubber hanging half off?
